Wilton Swag is hosting a fundraising dinner at Bianco Rosso and is inviting the community to support the business run by participants in the Community Steps transition program. A limited number of tickets are available for open seating on Tuesday, Sept. 25, between 6-8:30 p.m..
The Community Steps program was put together by Wilton’s special needs educators as a means of providing support to individuals with special needs after graduating high school and as they begin to map out their futures, focusing on life skills, vocational skills and community engagement. They created Wilton Swag as a non-profit organization dedicated to developing meaningful employment opportunities for young adults with disabilities, within their local community.
Wilton Swag has created several Wilton-branded items that they sell at events and locations around town. As part of the program, participants have been able to focus on specific learning areas, including functional academics, which prepares students for a vocational setting; community participation, which focuses on soft skills; independent living skills, which comprises adaptive skills; and vocation skills, which teaches tasks students would take on with most local employers.
Tickets for the Bianco Rosso dinner are $25 apiece and can be purchased via email. The price includes a free glass of wine and raffle tickets for several donated prizes.
