Good News – this major Wilton infrastructure project is going very well and is considerably ahead of schedule!

As many will recall from earlier postings and communications, the Town’s goal was to start the installation of the natural gas line on August 1, 2014. To seize the opportunity of reduced traffic and activity due to citizen vacation absences, we wanted Yankee Gas crews to complete the installation in the Wilton Center business area and along Kristine Lilly Way and as much of the school areas as possible during the first three weeks of August before the schools reopened.

I am very pleased to report that all of these goals have been accomplished, including the lateral connections to Middlebrook and Cider Mill Schools! Very favorable weather conditions and very competent gas line installation crews were primarily responsible for the good results to date.

Looking forward, one installation crew has started work at the Merwin Meadows end of the Norwalk River Valley Trail and will install gas lines north to connect with the recently installed School Rd. line.

A second crew will continue to install pipe on River Rd. in the condominium area working south toward Horseshoe Rd.. This road will be reduced to one lane traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Therefore, please consider alternate routes, if possible, to avoid inconvenience and delays and obey Police officers or flagmen overseeing traffic control.

Lastly, a third crew will continue with the installation of pipe on Wolfpit Rd. (Route 106).

Construction updates are posted frequently on the Town of Wilton website, www.wiltonct.org.  Please visit this site or Yankee Gas’ site – www.wiltonexpansion.com or call 860.665.4644 if you have any questions.

In summary, this natural gas line installation project is ahead of schedule and is expected to be fully completed before the end of November 2014.  Thanks again for everyone’s understanding and patience.
