This year, Maundy Thursday, one of the holiest nights in the Christian year, is March 29. On this night, Christians remember the Last Supper that Jesus had with his disciples. At Wilton Congregational Church, worshipers will commemorate this night by joining together for a simple supper of soup and bread at 7 p.m. in Pilgrim Hall and then gathering for worship at 8 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Worship service on Maundy Thursday is a simple communion service followed by Tenebrae. Tenebrae is the Latin word for shadows. Traditionally it is a service of readings remembering the final hours in the life of Jesus. As each passage is read, the sanctuary is progressively darkened as candles are extinguished. At the close, worshippers leave the sanctuary in silence and shadow.

All are welcome to attend this event. To attend the simple supper, please reserve a place by emailing the church or calling 203.762.5591 by Tuesday, March 27.
