Wilton commuters are being advised about two situations that will significantly impact their commutes in the coming weeks.

Wilton Train Station Parking Restrictions

The State of Connecticut is installing a new water line to the Wilton train station. Beginning Wednesday, May 29, and ending on or about Thursday, July 25 there will be approximately 48 parking spaces blocked off to allow for the construction and storage of materials.

Signs are currently posted marking where the spots will be closed.

I-95 Closure and Traffic Re-Routing

While this event doesn’t occur in Wilton, it still will dramatically impact anyone planning to drive toward New York City on the weekends of May 31-June 3 and June 7-10. Closure of I-95 in Stamford is expected to cause substantial delays as traffic is re-routed onto the Merritt Parkway.

There will be a detour at Exit 9 in Stamford, and the CT-Department of Transportation is strongly advising motorists to avoid the area and plan alternate routes. Traffic will be detoured off of Route 1 and off of I-95. Major delays are expected.

The detours will begin (Route 1 at 9 p.m. and I-95 at 11 p.m.) on Friday, May 31 and Friday, June 7, and end on Monday, June 3 and Monday, June 10 at 5 a.m..
