Zucaro Receives Independent Party Endorsement

Candidate for the 143rd House district Patrizia Zucaro has received the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut for the Nov. 3 election. Zucaro was also endorsed as the Republican candidate for the seat in May.

As a result of the Independent Party’s endorsement, Zucaro will appear on both the Republican and Independent ballot lines, both in absentee ballots and on Election Day.

“I’m very pleased to have received the endorsement of the Independent Party because it reflects my commitment to taking a balanced approach to the complex public health, educational, economic, public safety, and infrastructure issues that have so profoundly affected the lives of everyone in Connecticut this year,” said Zucaro. “I believe that balanced, thoughtful consideration of all factors and perspectives is far more effective and appropriate than following one doctrine or political agenda. That is how I intend to approach legislation and to do what is right for Wilton, Norwalk, and Westport. Each is a unique town with an independent spirit, and each deserves better than one-size-fits-all initiatives imposed by the state. Representing our towns’ interests with undivided attention and independent thinking is my focus and an obligation that I take very seriously.

She continued:  “Decades of too much politics and not enough real work and local focus have held Connecticut back from reaching its full potential. Now, more than ever, we have an important opportunity to rethink many economic and fiscal policies to help our state rebuild and grow. Everything state government does should be designed to ensure residents’ health, safety, and future here. I am committed to making our district, and Connecticut, a place where businesses can thrive, and every single resident can enjoy opportunity, quality of life, and success, in an atmosphere of mutual respect.”

Congressman Jim Himes and Planned Parenthood Back Will Haskell for Re-Election

State Senator Will Haskell secured two major endorsements last week for re-election. Both Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut’s 4th District and Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut endorsed the first-term legislator for re-election in Connecticut’s 26th Senatorial District. The endorsements are a clear reminder that major national issues are on the ballot this year at the state legislative level.

“Sometimes, state legislative candidates like to pretend that big, national issues don’t affect us here in Connecticut. From two years in the state Senate, I can tell you that that’s not true. When Donald Trump cut federal funding for women’s health and attacked the legitimacy of Roe v. Wade, it fell on my colleagues and me in Hartford to protect reproductive health in Connecticut,” said Haskell. “That’s why I’m especially grateful to receive the endorsements of Congressman Himes and Planned Parenthood — a politician and an organization that know that the fight against the Trump agenda doesn’t stop at the state border.”

“Will has been fighting for us on the issues that we care about most:  on good gun safety regulation, on preserving our environment and the green space that is important to our quality of life, and of course on transportation—because Will understands that, without a good transportation network, we do not have growth, we do not have prosperity in our communities,” said Himes. “I’ve known him for a long time. His heart is in the right place; he is everything that we want in a public servant.”

Jim Himes, currently serving his sixth term in Congress, represents Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District, which includes Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Oxford, Redding, Ridgefield, part of Shelton, Stamford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

Will Haskell is running for re-election to the state senate in the 26th district of Connecticut, which includes portions of Westport, Ridgefield, Wilton, Redding, Weston, Bethel, and New Canaan.

Kim Healy Endorsed by Independent Party

Kim Healy, candidate for State Senate in the 26th District (Wilton, Ridgefield, and Redding, most of Westport, and parts of Bethel, New Canaan, and Weston) announced that she was endorsed by the Independent Party of Connecticut. She will appear on both the Republican and Independent ballot lines.

“I am happy to report that I have been endorsed by the Independent Party of Connecticut as their candidate for I will now be both the Republican and Independent Party candidate this Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020.

“The Independent Party is independent for a reason–it understands that entrenchment occurs in typical party politics. I am humbled and grateful that they recognized my intent to create practical solutions that transcend party boundaries. The Independent Party is the third largest political party in Connecticut and often nominates fiscally responsible, socially moderate candidates without regard to which party those candidates represent.
When I am your State Senator, I promise to be independent in my thinking and principled in my decision making to honor the pragmatism of Connecticut’s Independent Party.”
