DESCRIPTION:Renowned silhouette artist Deborah O’Connor will create individual portraits cut entirely freehand from paper\, using scissors as her only tool\, at Wilton Historical Society on Saturday\, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Subjects pose for silhouettes\, created in a matter of minutes\, which you can take home – the perfect holiday gift\, and a future cherished family heirloom. “Cutting silhouettes is basically drawing with a pair of scissors. The only difference is you can’t make any mistakes\, as there is no erasing\,” O’Connor says. \nEach silhouette is $30. Matting and framing is available at additional costs. Silhouettes can be mounted on white or ivory archival quality cardstock. Mattes\, extra copies for gift giving and frames will also be available. Participants will explore and play two organs\, bring their own piano music\, and build a working mini pipe organ using the internationally known OrgelKids kit. DESCRIPTION:Transformations: Dialogues in Art and Material (May 9-17)\, the Spring “Art in the Barn” exhibition at browngrotta arts\, will take a focused look at materiality\, examining how matter is shaped\, reconfigured\, and reimagined through skilled and thoughtful engagement. The exhibition will feature works by some three dozen international artists exploring a wide range of materials — ranging from clay\, silk\, and linen\, to cotton\, steel\, bark\, stones\, seaweed\, bamboo\, and horsehair — highlighting both the diversity of material choices and the distinct outcomes achieved even when artists work within the same medium. \nThe works on view in Transformations will underscore diversity of process and approaches.
