Queen Frost and Wintery Snowman will be there to meet and greet with our young guests while fire dancers add a thrilling spectacle and fiery displays for our adults and teens! \nIce sculptures will be hidden around Wilton Center for a scavenger hunt and lucky winners will be presented with gift cards to local Wilton business! Wander further as the warmth of bonfires beckons\, inviting you to gather around for relief from the chill and a cozy ambiance for s’mores presented by the Wilton Rotary Club. \nFood trucks will offer hot and spicy\, and cool culinary delights while children are entertained by face painters and fun activities throughout the Town Green. \nJoin us for this lively celebration as we bring our community together to enjoy the festivities and support our local businesses. SUMMARY:Get Festive and Celebrate at Wilton's 2024 Holiday Stroll
DESCRIPTION:Wilton will enjoy the annual Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll on Friday\, Dec. 6. Together with event sponsor Kimco Realty and in partnership with the Town of Wilton\, Wilton Fire Department\, Wilton Volunteers Ambulance Corps\, and several retailers and businesses in the Town Center\, the whole community is invited to join the festivities beginning at 5 p.m.\n\n \n\n5-8 p.m. — Carolers\, crafts and toy drive: Participants can get in the holiday spirit and make their way to the Town Green to be enchanted by the strolling carolers from the Voice Studio singing holiday classics. Families can enjoy crafts and treats provided by Wilton non-profit organizations\, and meet a special “ELF” strolling through the Town Green. In addition\, the Wilton Police Department will be collecting toys for children in need.\n\n \n\n5:30-7 p.m. — Wilton Library welcomes visitors: Wilton Library staff will welcome visitors outside the library’s front entrance\, handing out special gift bags with sweet treats\, while supplies last. Children can stop by the Children’s Library to make a special bookmark to take home with their books\, and teens are welcome to visit the Teen Room to make pompom bookmarks. Library officials invite all visitors to shop for gifts and stocking stuffers at the Holiday Book Sale in the gallery.\n\n \n\n5:45 p.m. — Tree lighting and Santa: Wilton will officially kick off the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa ushered in by the Wilton Fire Department’s Ladder Truck 5. Children of all ages will be able to visit Santa at the gazebo where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat starting at 6 p.m.\n\n \n\n5-8 p.m. — Stroll\, shop and support Wilton’s local businesses: Celebrate the magic of the holidays and join in the festivities with Wilton retailers\, restaurants and local businesses. The Chamber encourages the community to stroll through town\, visit\, shop and enjoy the generous hospitality of participating local businesses that evening!\n\n5-8 p.m. — Marshmallow Roast: The Kiwanis Club of Wilton will once again host the marshmallow roast for the Holiday Stroll! With the fire ban lifted in the State\, this family activity returns to keep guests warm and cozy. Visit the Kiwanians at the corner of River Rd. and the entrance to Schenck’s Island.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll is this Friday Dec. 1. All residents are invited to join the festivities beginning at 5 p.m.\, hosted by the chamber together with event sponsors Fairfield County Bank and Meadow Ridge and in partnership with the Town of Wilton\, Wilton Fire Department\, Wilton Volunteers Ambulance Corps\, Wilton Kiwanis Club and several retailers and businesses in the Town Center\, \nGet in the holiday spirit as by warming up by a roaring bonfire and partake in the marshmallow roast and hot cocoa provided by the Wilton Kiwanis Club at Schenck’s Island. Head to the Town Green to be enchanted by the strolling carolers and dance performance from Wilton’s Conservatory of Dance. Families can enjoy crafts and treats provided by local non-profit organizations\, and new this year\, Justin Baiad Photography will be creating a magical winter experience with digital photo packages at the Holiday Stroll. Get a portrait with Buddy the Elf as he joins in the fun. In the tradition of giving back for the holiday season\, all proceeds from the photo session will benefit Trackside Teen Center. \nIn addition to the festivities at the Town Green and Schenck’s Island\, from 5:30-7 p.m.\, Wilton Library staff will welcome visitors outside their front entrance handing out special gift bags with sweet treats\, while supplies last. Children can stop by the Children’s Library to make a special bookmark to take home with their books. Visitors are invited to shop for gifts and stocking stuffers at the Holiday Book Sale in the gallery. \nAt 5:45 p.m. the community will officially kick off the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa at the Town Green\, ushered in by the Wilton Fire Department’s Ladder Truck 5. Children of all ages will be able to visit Santa at the gazebo where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat starting at 6 p.m. \nCelebrate the magic of the holidays and join in the festivities with Wilton retailers\, restaurants\, and local businesses. Chamber officials encourage the community to stroll through town\, visit\, shop and enjoy the generous hospitality of participating local businesses that evening. DESCRIPTION:Join family and friends for Wilton’s 4th of July celebration on Tuesday\, July 4 at the Wilton High School (WHS) Complex at 395 Danbury Rd./Kristine Lilly Way. The town-sponsored fireworks event begins at 5 p.m. with a Dance to the Music DJ. Bring a blanket\, chairs and a picnic and enjoy the music with a couple thousand of your fellow Wilton residents. A traditional 4th of July-style fireworks show will kick off at sundown estimated to be around 8:30 p.m. \nParking passes for the Route 7 Tennis Courts\, Cider Mill School\, the Wilton Board of Education parking lot\, and Lilly Way athletic fields can be purchased online for $35 per vehicle on the Parks and Recreation Online Registration System. \nPasses can also be purchased at the Wilton Parks and Recreation Department office in Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.). Passes will be available through Friday\, June 30 (passes will not be available for purchase on the day of the event). Vehicles without a valid parking pass will not be allowed to park in any of the reserved\, pre-paid parking lots even if space permits. Other parking outside of the pre-paid parking lots will only be available on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nThe rain date for the fireworks is Wednesday\, July 5.

SUMMARY:Wilton Memorial Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday\, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. \nMemorial Day activities start with the Pancake Breakfast\, sponsored by the Wilton Kiwanis Club\, and held at the Wilton Congregational Church. The events end with the Memorial Service at Hillside Cemetery. \nThis year’s keynote speaker will be Vietnam Veteran Jim Kohler\, and the parade Grand Marshal will be Bayden “Bud” Taylor\, a Navy veteran. \nThe committee has issued the call for parade participants. Any groups interested in marching in the parade should contact Coleen Amero via email to receive registration forms. Participants need to provide proof of insurance in order to march and registration forms are due by May 19. \n

DESCRIPTION:The public is cordially invited to the 58th Annual Meeting of the Wilton Land Conservation Trust.  The quest speaker will be Geordie Elkins\, Executive Director of Highstead.  He will speak about the importance of creating native habitats\, preserving biodiversity with the Ecotype Project\, large and small-scale habitat protection and restoration\, and much more. \nThe public meeting will be held remotely\, via Zoom\, on Wednesday\, February 22\, at 7 p.m. The members’ meeting starts at 6 p.m. and requires a separate registration found on the WLCT website. \nThank you for your membership and we look forward to seeing you on the trails and at the meeting!

SUMMARY:Memorial Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:This Monday\, May 30\, is Memorial Day\, a day to honor and remember the dedicated U.S. military members who fought to retain our rights as Americans\, and who are now gone. The parade is organized by Wilton’s James B. Whipple American Legion Post 86. \n\nAll roads in Wilton Center will remain open until 9:45 a.m.\, when all town center roads as well as Rte. 33/Ridgefield Rd. between Rte. 7/Danbury Rd. and Drum Hill Rd. will be closed in preparation for a 10 a.m. parade start.\nThe parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Monday\, on River Rd. in Wilton Center\, and will feature Wilton Police\, Wilton Firefighters\, Girl Scouts\, Boy Scouts\, youth sports teams\, the Wilton High School Marching Band\, bagpipers and several local organizations including the Wilton Garden Club\, Wilton YMCA\, Wilton Library and many others. They will line up in advance along River Rd. near Wilton Hardware and will proceed north to Old Ridgefield Rd.\, past the Wilton Congregational Church and on to the Hillside Cemetery.\nThe parade’s Grand Marshal will be long-time Wilton resident and 64-year member of the American Legion Post 86\, Ernest “Bing” Ventres\, an Air Force Veteran who was Post Commander for over 20 years.\nThe ceremony’s honored speaker will be Paul Richards\, who served two combat tours in Vietnam. WHS student Aki Lasher is the singer and Cantor Harriet Dunkerley of Temple B’nai Chaim is the Chaplain.\nThe CT Army National Guard 102nd Band will be marching and playing the National Anthem at Hillside. WHS student Jake Katz is the bugler. Army Ranger veteran and Post 86 member Drew Kennedy is the Bagpiper.\n\nThe Wilton Memorial Day Parade is organized by a dedicated group of volunteers: \n\nChairman Jim Newton served a 13-month tour in Vietnam in 1967 as an artillery forward observer. He was wounded in the leg and chest by enemy grenades and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Newton and his wife have lived in Wilton for 45 years.\nAdministrative Assistant Pam Brown is the executive administrator of the Wilton Congregational Church as well as the operations manager of Hillside Cemetery.\nAdministrative Assistant Coleen Amero is a six-year member of the committee. She works at the Wilton Congregational Church\, where she is responsible for day-to-day operations\, and administrative support. Amero and her family have lived in Wilton since 2014.\nTreasurer Jeff Turner is in his 19th year as a member of the committee\, including a stint as Chairman. Turner retired as a Navy Commander after 22-years of distinguished service\, including two deployments to the Persian Gulf during the Iraqi/Iran conflict and the Mediterranean during the Lebanon hostage crisis. Having served in commanding and executive officer positions\, he received a total of 11 personal and unit awards.\nVentres\, this year’s Parade Grand Marshal\, has served on the committee since its inception\, including times as its chairman. He enlisted in the Air National Guard before graduating high school and served with the 103rd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. He was training as a vehicle maintenance mechanic. His unit was twice ordered to stand by for deployment to Korea during that war\, but was never activated and deployed.\nWilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps President John Meyers joined the committee this year as a consultant. He has been an EMT and a member of WVAC for six years. He has served on the Operations Committee for almost the entire period\, first as secretary\, now as president.\nWilton Police Lt. David Hartman is a Wilton native and a graduate of Wilton High School. He has been a member of the Wilton Police Department since 1999 and currently serves as president of the Wilton Police Benevolent Association. He is an active member in the Wilton community\, a great supporter of Wilton’s veterans and continues to give back to the community. Hartman is serving on the committee for the first time.\nTom Moore serves as secretary for the committee and is a five-year veteran of the US Army. A 29-year member of the American Legion\, he has been with Post 86 for 23-years. Married to Nancy for 34-years\, he serves as a member of the committee as a salute to those service members and veterans who have passed to Post Everlasting.
