DESCRIPTION:Wilton Youth Council’s Mental Health Task Force and Wilton Library are co-sponsoring a Volunteer Fair on Saturday\, Sept. 21\, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. \nThe Wilton community is invited to visit the Brubeck Room to explore the many volunteer opportunities for all ages available through Wilton organizations. See these amazing creatures up close while learning about their unique traits and what makes them the birds of prey! \nAll are welcome to this relaxing program. Connect with nature\, community\, and yourself while learning about birds of prey. \n  \nThe Wilton Land Trust is a community-focused nonprofit organization that conserves land\, protects biodiversity\, enhances ecosystems\, and builds community. \nChristine’s Critters is a non-profit 501(c)(3) wildlife rehabilitation facility that sees over 100 injured birds of prey come through their doors each year. Many of these birds are able to be rehabilitated and returned home to the wild\, which helps offset the human impact on our wildlife. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, July 20\, the Wilton Chamber of Commerce will host its 12th annual Wilton Street Fair and Sidewalk Sales from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wilton Center will be transformed into an exciting\, action packed\, bargain filled\, entertaining and delicious destination for residents and regional visitors. \nThe summer festival is proudly presented by ASML\, LaurelRock\, Fairfield County Bank\, Stamford Health\, and Caraluzzi’s Georgetown Market\, and with special participation from the Wilton Rotary Club to support  the numerous retailers\, restaurants\, businesses\, artisans and local organizations who pull out all the stops to showcase our community as a vibrant retail\, service and dining destination. \nIn addition to the shopping and dining opportunities featured during the day\, the Wilton Chamber of Commerce has lined up entertainment with music\, live performances\, and many new activities for the whole family and for our furry friends too! Attractions and activities will be centered around the gazebo highlighted by the “Touch-a-Truck” center sponsored by our community partner\, ASML and featuring vehicles including the Wilton Fire Department’s Engine 5 Ladder Truck\, a patrol car from the Wilton Police Department and a service vehicle from the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps. \n \nThe Wilton Library will also be hosting its summer book sale in the heart of the fair\, and make sure to check out the various interactive activities throughout Old Ridgefield Rd. that will include face-painting\, inflatable games\,  magician\, balloon characters\, family friendly activities\, street performers\, kid’s crafts\, live animal encounters and exhibits\, sand art\, plus treats galore and much\, much more! This event will surely delight and surprise our shoppers and attendees! \nThe Street Fair vendors and entertainment are all located along Old Ridgefield Rd. from the Village Market to the intersection of Godfrey Rd. including the Gazebo at the Town Green. SUMMARY:Allen’s Meadow Volunteers — Helping to Maintain a Native Pollinator Meadow
DESCRIPTION:A newly created native pollinator meadow is now behind the Community Gardens at Allen’s Meadow. It includes over 40 species of native wildflowers and 4 species of native grasses — it was previously a monoculture of an invasive weed called Mugwort. It is critical to remove as many Mugwort seedlings as possible during this first year of meadow growth. This helps prevent them from taking hold before the native meadow seedlings have a chance to get established.  \nThey are holding a series of volunteer days this Summer and Fall (next one is Wednesday\, July 10). Consider volunteering an hour or two of your time to help ensure this native meadow has a chance to survive and thrive in Wilton’s treasured town park. Many hands make light work. \nPark at Field 6 sign and walk over to meadow on the backside of the community gardens.

DESCRIPTION:During Wilton’s 4th of July festivities\, College Bound Rickshaw will be onsite at the town fireworks event offering free rides. Their goal is to help patrons get from their cars to the field with ease and added safety. In partnership with Parks and Recreation\, they have secured a prime parking spot next to the George DiRocco bench for easy access. \nAdditionally\, a percentage of tips collected during the evening will benefit several local non-profit groups.

DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library happily announces the return of its annual Summer Music Concert Series! \nFairfield County-based pop-rock trio\, Over Easy kicks off the series on Thursday\, June 27\, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.. They cover music from the ‘50s\, the British Invasion era and early ‘70s classics that are often forgotten. The band receives rave reviews for their ability to cater their sound to their listeners and their fun\, laid-back style. \nConcerts take place rain or shine in the Brubeck Room on Thursday evenings in June and July starting at 5:00 p.m. The series continues with Sounds of Sinatra Music on July 11\, Captain Obvious on July 18\, and Everything Else on July 25. \nThe concerts are free and open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Registration is not required. \nVillage Market sponsors the event series. Janet and Michael Crystal generously donated refreshments.
