DESCRIPTION:Fresh off the heels of Wilton’s recent Food Truck Festival\, the Fairfield County Dance Festival is headed to Wilton for the very first time\, on Thursday\, July 17 at Schenck’s Island in Wilton Center. \nThe Fairfield County Dance Festival is an annual\, free\, open-air summer performance series produced by East Coast Contemporary Ballet (Norwalk) and Thomas/Ortiz Dance (New Canaan). Curated for and touring throughout Fairfield County\, this dance festival provides greater accessibility to the arts and promotes community engagement. In addition to ECCB and Thomas/Ortiz Dance\, the touring festival features other local artists\, guest dance companies and musicians. \nThe Wilton tour stop is presented by East Coast Contemporary Ballet and sponsored by Wilton’s WildBloom Skincare\, and the event brings together world-class professional dance\, community\, celebration and local flavor for a free and unforgettable evening. \nThe festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a curated lineup of food trucks offering delicious\, diverse options for every craving. Food trucks include Chef Jeff’s BBQ\, JJB Wood Fire Pizza Truck\, The Chamo\, Los Pablanos and Jim’s Ice Cream Truck. Local businesses will be on hand for fun shopping as well. \nAt 5:30 p.m.\, the stage turns local with special community performances by talented young dancers from Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet and a special kids’ pop-up hip hop class from Wilton’s Conservatory of Dance\, with a proud showcase of Wilton’s youth and the strength of local arts education. \nThen\, at 6:30 p.m.\, the main event showcasing ballet\, contemporary and modern dance begins: a professional performance featuring dancers from East Coast Contemporary Ballet\, Thomas/Ortiz Dance and Ballet Frontier. On Sunday\, June 1\, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. join Wilton Historical at Schenck’s Island and Chess Park (202 Old Ridgefield Rd.) to feast from a collection of the area’s finest food trucks\, with all proceeds to benefit the Society. \nAttendees can explore Wilton’s culinary and food-producing history\, with re-enactments from knowledgeable colonial educators and fly-fishing demonstrations on the Norwalk River courtesy of Trout Unlimited’s Mianus Chapter. The festival will also include live music\, historically inspired games\, face painting\, and more! \nThe Wilton Historical Society Food Truck Festival is being held in partnership with Wilton Pride’s Be You Festival and Wilton Coalition for Youth #Wiltoniswhereyoubelong campaign. The Be You Pride Festival will take place on the Town Green on Sunday\, June 1\, and visitors are encouraged to spend the day in Wilton Center supporting all the participating community organizations. \nAll proceeds from admissions to the Food Truck Festival go directly to the Wilton Historical Society’s mission to preserve Wilton’s history\, and connect\, engage and educate all who would look to the past to shape the future. \nTickets are available to purchase ahead of time or at the event day-of! DESCRIPTION:The Miller-Driscoll School Carnival is making its return April 26-28! Save the Date and get ready for rides\, food and family fun! \nFriday\, April 26: 6 – 10 p.m.\nSaturday\, April 27: 1 – 10 p.m.\nSunday\, April 28: 1 – 5 p.m. \nIn addition to the fun and entertainment\, local food trucks will also be there\, namely 900 Degrees Pizza\, JJB\, Southern Wings and Things (SWAT)\, Cinnabomb Food Truck\, and College Creamery. Food trucks will open an hour before the carnival starts all 3 days. \nThe carnival is one of the school’s most significant fundraisers. Through ticket sales and local sponsor support\, the carnival raises funds that are used towards student enrichment programs\, educational workshops\, new materials\, and the fulfillment of grant requests. \nUnlimited ride wristbands will be available for purchase on-site for $35. Wristbands are good for one day only and cannot be reused over multiple days.

DESCRIPTION:Jazz enthusiasts of all ages\, mark your calendars. The 44th annual John Rhodes Jazz Symposium is scheduled for Friday\, Feb. 28 (4-9:30 p.m.) in the Wilton High School Little Theater. Come enjoy performances by the enormously talented young jazz musicians of Fairfield County\, featuring jazz bands from Wilton High School and seven other area high schools. \nHosting the symposium will be WHS band directors Nick Loafman and Troy Williams. The event will kick off with a performance by WHS Jazz Band II at 4 p.m.; WHS Jazz Band I will play at 8:30p.m.; and the symposium will end with a guest appearance at 9 p.m. by Fairfield County’s own Berkshire Jazz Orchestra–with special guest artist\, Grammy-nominated composer and musician\, and Wilton resident Chris Brubeck. \nAll members of the community are invited to join us for this popular celebration of great jazz music and great local jazz talent. Admission is free. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.

DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the date for its third Annual Wilton Winter Carnival. This event\, sponsored by Fairfield County Bank\, will be held on Sunday\, Jan. 26\, from 12-4 p.m.\, and is designed to be fun for all ages! \nVisitors are invited to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides; a live\, ice-sculpting demonstration at the Town Green Gazebo plus pre-carved sculptures at Fairfield County Bank\, Gregory and Adams\, P.C.\, Village Market\, and Wilton Library; live music from WEBE 108; a campfire for roasting marshmallows (children must be accompanied by an adult) hosted by the Wilton Rotary Club; a life-sized Olaf character from Frozen for photo ops; kids activities and crafts provided by Little Green Frog and others; and kids games and treats. Guests can stroll through town to view all Wilton has to offer and stop in at the Wilton Library\, which will be open with special activities and offering a seat to warm up next to the fireplace. \nThere will be many culinary treats as well; food trucks on hand will include Cousins Maine Lobster\, Lucky Dog\, Planet Pizza and more. Adults will also be able to enjoy non-alcoholic and craft beers\, as well as cordial and spirit tastings\, including bourbon\, whiskey\, Scotch and warm cocktails. \nAlso new for this year\, the Chamber is offering free giveaways to the first 250 guests at the carnival–they’ll receive a free yowie multifunctional rally wear–use it as a scarf\, bandana\, headband\, neck warmer\, beanie\, hair cover and so many more uses! \nSupporting sponsors include Kimco Realty and Blue Buffalo; the entertainment sponsor is Passage East Kennels; and media sponsors are GOOD Morning Wilton and WEBE 108\, plus others to be announced. \nThe event is rain\, snow or shine\, so bundle up and come outside and enjoy! \nFor more information\, contact Chamber executive director Debra Hanson or assistant director Camille Carriero at 203.762.0567 or via email.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Holiday Stroll will be held on Friday\, Dec. 6\, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Wilton Center Town Green. The Wilton Chamber of Commerce\, Wilton Kiwanis\, and the Town of Wilton have planned a variety of events to celebrate the holidays and the arrival of winter. Residents are invited to bring family and friends to Wilton Center to welcome in the season! \nAmong the events scheduled for the evening: \n\nChildren of all ages can participate in holiday crafts and activities on the Town Green\, featuring free cookie painting (nut free) with The Painted Cookie and potato latkes sponsored by GOOD Morning Wilton. Enjoy festive music provided by the Wilton High School band and local holiday carolers.\nTree lighting on the Town Green at 5:30 p.m. following the Wilton Fire Department’s escort of Santa on the Engine 5 ladder truck. Santa will visit with children at the gazebo on the Town Green\, where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat from Santa.\nMarshmallow Roast at Schenck’s Island from 5:30-8 p.m. sponsored by Wilton Kiwanis. Enjoy hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows by the warmth of the campfire.\nFrom 5:30-7:30 p.m.\, Wilton Library will be welcoming visitors with refreshments by the warmth of the fireplace. Take an ‘ornament’ from the Giving Tree to help the library with its wish list\, give Hanukkah Gelt to the Children’s Library for its collection\, peruse the Holiday Book Sale and the art exhibition for holiday gift giving\, and vote for your favorite entry for the “How Sweet it is in Wilton” Gingerbread House Contest. SUMMARY:Weir Farm National Historic Site's Art in the Park Festival
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, Aug. 25\, Weir Farm National Historic Site\, Friends of Weir Farm\, the Weir Farm Art Center\, and Gilbert & Bennett Cultural Center will host the park’s third annual Art in the Park Festival. Artists are encouraged to bring their supplies\, and the park will provide supplies for those who don’t have their own. All visitors will have the opportunity to create works of art and enter the contest. \nFollowing the festival\, all entries are eligible to be part of an exhibit at G&B Cultural Center for the month of September\, with a reception to follow on weir farm. The park welcomes artists\, neighbors\, national park lovers\, and visitors of all ages and experience levels to create Art in the Park during this free day-long event. There will be live music\, artist demonstrations\, art activities\, an open house and more at this event!
