SUMMARY:Wilton's 5th Annual Norwalk River Duck Race
DESCRIPTION:May the best duck win!\n\nWe’re proud to announce the Fifth Annual Norwalk River Duck Race in celebration of our community and the Norwalk River!\n\nLearn how to cast a fly rod\, learn about some exciting river restoration projects and of course\, watch your rubber duck race it’s way downstream!\n\nDucks cost $25 an entry and 100% of the proceeds go towards Trout Unlimited‘s conservation mission to restore the Norwalk River.\n\nRubber ducks will launch simultaneously over the Schenck’s Island bridge (across from Stop & Shop) at 10:45 a.m. sharp and race through the Norwalk River. They will hit some bumpy currents along the way\, encounter some real ducks and wildlife but easily cruise to the finish line at a marked spot! The race takes approximately 15-20 mins and participants will be able to follow along from either the street sidewalk\, island side or wait at the marked finish line. First duck to the finish line wins a prize!

SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. Woodcock Nature Center educator Tommy McCarthy will lead the group on a short guided hike along the Woodcock trails and then through a relaxing tasting session of three or more different types of loose leaf tea including Japanese green tea\, Taiwanese oolong tea\, and Chinese black tea\, brewed in traditional tea ceremony style in our pavilion. ​ \nRegistration is required\, at $55 per person. SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. DESCRIPTION:Create your own living terrariums at Woodcock Nature Center!  Your terrarium will be a closed system inside a glass mason jar! They will be modeled after native forest floors and will be cool living decorations that will remind you of nature and change over time!  Your terrarium shouldn’t need any watering or maintenance either – everything that it needs will be contained in the jar and recycled. This program is on Feb 28\, 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m and is for children in grades 3 – 6.  ​ \nRegistration is required.  $45 per child
