DESCRIPTION:Did you know that black tea\, green tea\, white tea and oolong tea all come from the same plant? Learn about how these different teas are made and what gives them their unique\, subtle flavors and characteristics! Woodcock Nature Center educator Tommy McCarthy will lead the group on a short guided hike along the Woodcock trails and then through a relaxing tasting session of three or more different types of loose leaf tea including Japanese green tea\, Taiwanese oolong tea\, and Chinese black tea\, brewed in traditional tea ceremony style in our pavilion. ​ \nRegistration is required\, at $55 per person. This event is recommended for ages 13 and up.

SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. This event will be held rain or shine\, and this year will be fully tented!  \nWhether looking for the perfect gift for mom\, or a spectacular addition to one’s own garden\, visitors will find: \n\nLocally-grown and dug perennials and shrubs \nPollinator-friendly native species\nAnnuals\, and organic vegetable and herb plants grown from seed in the club’s own greenhouse \nA specially curated selection of rare dahlias\nMagnificent hanging baskets\nUnique bouquets and creative floral gifts designed and crafted by club members. \n\nNew this year: WGC’s Certified Master Gardeners will be wearing special identifying badges and circulating throughout the sale to lend their expert advice to curious shoppers and garden newbies. The Annuals Committee will also be providing bespoke garden solutions with a new service to help shoppers select specialized plants for container gardening\, and even pot their selections on-site in compostable paper pulp planters. The festival will also include live music\, historically inspired games and crafts\, face painting\, and more! Live music provided by The Mojo Rhythm Kings and Rubberband. \nThe food trucks that will be at the festival are: Cousins Maine Lobster\, Greek Style Grill\, The Chamo\, Layla’s Falafel\, Los Poblanos\, Chef Jeffs BBQ\, Silver Sands Pizza\, Retreat Sweets\, Foolproof Brewery\, Barrelsmith Cocktails\, Italian Ices of CT\, Lucky Dog\, Simply Smashed and Wilton Outback Steakhouse. \nAll proceeds from admissions go directly to the Wilton Historical Society’s mission to preserve Wilton’s history\, and connect\, engage and educate all who would look to the past to shape the future. \nTickets are available to purchase ahead of time and at the event day-of! Entries must be submitted by Sunday\, Jun. 28 at 9 p.m. The winner(s) will be selected the week of Jun. 29 and announced on Wilton Pride’s social media channels.
