DESCRIPTION:May the best duck win!\n\nWe’re proud to announce the Fifth Annual Norwalk River Duck Race in celebration of our community and the Norwalk River!\n\nLearn how to cast a fly rod\, learn about some exciting river restoration projects and of course\, watch your rubber duck race it’s way downstream!\n\nDucks cost $25 an entry and 100% of the proceeds go towards Trout Unlimited‘s conservation mission to restore the Norwalk River.\n\nRubber ducks will launch simultaneously over the Schenck’s Island bridge (across from Stop & Shop) at 10:45 a.m. sharp and race through the Norwalk River. They will hit some bumpy currents along the way\, encounter some real ducks and wildlife but easily cruise to the finish line at a marked spot! The race takes approximately 15-20 mins and participants will be able to follow along from either the street sidewalk\, island side or wait at the marked finish line. First duck to the finish line wins a prize!

As Faith carries a petition through the graveyard\, visitors encounter the men and women whose courage\, sacrifice and determination helped shape the future of Wilton. \nAlong the way\, historical figures emerge from among the stones to share their stories\, hopes and struggles. Meet farmers\, families\, community leaders\, and ministers whose lives were intertwined with the effort to build a church and create a stronger identity for a growing settlement. Through moving performances and the atmospheric setting of the cemetery itself\, history comes vividly to life around you. \nBlending authentic local history with immersive storytelling\, The Petition of Faith offers a unique opportunity to walk alongside the founders of Wilton and witness the events that led to the creation of the Wilton Congregational Church nearly 300 years ago. \nThis immersive theatrical experience is brought to you through the collaborate efforts of the Wilton Historical Society\, Wilton Congregational Church and ArtSynergy Productions. \nArtSynergy Productions creates immersive\, site-specific theatrical experiences that transform non-traditional venues into living stages. By blending storytelling\, environment and audience participation\, we create meaningful shared experiences that celebrate local history\, foster human connection\, and bring communities together through the power of live theater. \nPerformances will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday\, June 20. Each performance takes approximately an hour.

SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. DESCRIPTION:Continuing its illustrious tradition\, on Friday\, May 8 from 12-6 p.m.\, and Saturday\, May 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.\, the Wilton Garden Club will hold its 87th annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale at the Wilton Town Center gazebo. This event will be held rain or shine\, and this year will be fully tented!  \nWhether looking for the perfect gift for mom\, or a spectacular addition to one’s own garden\, visitors will find: \n\nLocally-grown and dug perennials and shrubs \nPollinator-friendly native species\nAnnuals\, and organic vegetable and herb plants grown from seed in the club’s own greenhouse \nA specially curated selection of rare dahlias\nMagnificent hanging baskets\nUnique bouquets and creative floral gifts designed and crafted by club members. \n\nNew this year: WGC’s Certified Master Gardeners will be wearing special identifying badges and circulating throughout the sale to lend their expert advice to curious shoppers and garden newbies. The Annuals Committee will also be providing bespoke garden solutions with a new service to help shoppers select specialized plants for container gardening\, and even pot their selections on-site in compostable paper pulp planters. And if those shopping carts start to feel heavy\, the Wilton Boy Scouts will be on hand to help customers carry and load their purchases into their vehicles.  \nProceeds from the plant sale are used for WGC’s many philanthropic efforts which include: \n\nMaintaining most of the gardens in town (Post Office\, Veteran’s Memorial\, town sign at Rtes. 7/33\, Schenck’s Island Chess Park and Horseshoe Rd. SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. DESCRIPTION:Did you know that black tea\, green tea\, white tea and oolong tea all come from the same plant? Learn about how these different teas are made and what gives them their unique\, subtle flavors and characteristics! Woodcock Nature Center educator Tommy McCarthy will lead the group on a short guided hike along the Woodcock trails and then through a relaxing tasting session of three or more different types of loose leaf tea including Japanese green tea\, Taiwanese oolong tea\, and Chinese black tea\, brewed in traditional tea ceremony style in our pavilion. ​ \nRegistration is required\, at $55 per person. This event is recommended for ages 13 and up.

At secret locations along the Woodcock trails we’ll delight your senses with all new craft brews and sweet sips for all ages plus animal encounters\, treats and treasure hunts. Also\, live music with Lazer Goose and guitarist/singer Matt Greene\, plus food for purchase from Dough Girls pizza. Even furry family members will enjoy some goodies along the trek. \nTrek\, taste and discover with Woodcock! \n​\nTickets are available for specific start times (attendees must arrive at the start of the session; walk-up tickets will be available only if space allows): 12- 2 p.m.; 12:15-2:15 p.m.; 3-5 p.m.; 3:15-5:15 p.m.; 5:45-7:45 p.m.; and 6-8 p.m. Pre-purchase ticket sales ends at midnight Friday\, Apr. 24 (check the Woodcock website for updates on availability). \n\nTickets are $57 for adult (21+) tickets\, and $27 for kids (3 and up) and spectators. Admission for 21+ includes: one souvenir tasting glass per 21+ ticket purchased; a one-of-a-kind trek through the woods and wetlands of Woodcock with beer and soda sampling at five stations along the way; complimentary soda tasting\, music\, snacks and water.
