SUMMARY:Wilton's 5th Annual Norwalk River Duck Race
DESCRIPTION:May the best duck win!\n\nWe’re proud to announce the Fifth Annual Norwalk River Duck Race in celebration of our community and the Norwalk River!\n\nLearn how to cast a fly rod\, learn about some exciting river restoration projects and of course\, watch your rubber duck race it’s way downstream!\n\nDucks cost $25 an entry and 100% of the proceeds go towards Trout Unlimited‘s conservation mission to restore the Norwalk River.\n\nRubber ducks will launch simultaneously over the Schenck’s Island bridge (across from Stop & Shop) at 10:45 a.m. sharp and race through the Norwalk River. They will hit some bumpy currents along the way\, encounter some real ducks and wildlife but easily cruise to the finish line at a marked spot! The race takes approximately 15-20 mins and participants will be able to follow along from either the street sidewalk\, island side or wait at the marked finish line. First duck to the finish line wins a prize!

As Faith carries a petition through the graveyard\, visitors encounter the men and women whose courage\, sacrifice and determination helped shape the future of Wilton. \nAlong the way\, historical figures emerge from among the stones to share their stories\, hopes and struggles. Meet farmers\, families\, community leaders\, and ministers whose lives were intertwined with the effort to build a church and create a stronger identity for a growing settlement. Through moving performances and the atmospheric setting of the cemetery itself\, history comes vividly to life around you. \nBlending authentic local history with immersive storytelling\, The Petition of Faith offers a unique opportunity to walk alongside the founders of Wilton and witness the events that led to the creation of the Wilton Congregational Church nearly 300 years ago. \nThis immersive theatrical experience is brought to you through the collaborate efforts of the Wilton Historical Society\, Wilton Congregational Church and ArtSynergy Productions. \nArtSynergy Productions creates immersive\, site-specific theatrical experiences that transform non-traditional venues into living stages. By blending storytelling\, environment and audience participation\, we create meaningful shared experiences that celebrate local history\, foster human connection\, and bring communities together through the power of live theater. \nPerformances will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday\, June 20. Each performance takes approximately an hour.

DESCRIPTION:Moth Madness Drop-Off Program at Woodcock Nature Center \nSaturday\, May 22\, from 8 – 10 p.m.​​​ \nUncover the wonderful world of moths!  While these primarily nocturnal insects are seldom seen\, kids will embark on a night hike to visit light traps and baited trees to see what they can find.  This should attract different moth species\, so kids can learn and identify together what they see.  With over 1\,000 species of moths that live in New England\, it is always exciting to discover more of them!  This program is for children in grades 3-6.​​ \n​​Registration is required.  $45 per child

DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely two-hour walk from 8-10 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp — to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadow.\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed. Also\, live music with Lazer Goose and guitarist/singer Matt Greene\, plus food for purchase from Dough Girls pizza. Even furry family members will enjoy some goodies along the trek. \nTrek\, taste and discover with Woodcock! \n​\nTickets are available for specific start times (attendees must arrive at the start of the session; walk-up tickets will be available only if space allows): 12- 2 p.m.; 12:15-2:15 p.m.; 3-5 p.m.; 3:15-5:15 p.m.; 5:45-7:45 p.m.; and 6-8 p.m. Pre-purchase ticket sales ends at midnight Friday\, Apr. 24 (check the Woodcock website for updates on availability). \n\nTickets are $57 for adult (21+) tickets\, and $27 for kids (3 and up) and spectators. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Hillside Cemetery and Arboretum in the Never Forget Garden\, for a special event called Patriots’ Day. \nWe will visit the graves of several Wilton patriots and reflect on how they contributed — both in service and in spirit — to this chapter of American History. \nAfterward\, we are all invited to the Wilton Library at 7 p.m. for a Patriots’ Day Program\, sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution\, Drum Hill Chapter entitled “Revolutionary Choices: Patriotism\, Loyalism\, Neutrality and the fate of the American Revolution.” Dr. Jonathon Awtrey will speak about the origins of the American Revolution and will consider how and why Anglo-Americans chose to side with the Patriots or Loyalists or remain neutral.
