SUMMARY:Wilton Library Presents Music for Youth’s Emerging Artists Concert Featuring Award-Winning Cellist Sydney Lee
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library for Music for Youth’s Emerging Artists concert featuring award-winning cellist Sydney Lee. This program celebrates the lyrical intimacy and rich harmonic language of French music from the late Romantic to early 20th century. César Franck’s radiant Sonata in A major anchors the program with its sweeping emotional arc and cyclical design\, a hallmark of French Romanticism. Nadia Boulanger’s Three Pieces for Cello and Piano offer a more introspective voice of poetic miniatures that reveal delicate shades of color and quiet nuance. Camille Saint-Saëns’s beloved The Swan and Gabriel Fauré’s graceful Sicilienne complement these works with their elegance\, warmth\, and timeless melodic charm. Together\, these pieces trace a lineage of French expressivity—refined\, nostalgic\, and deeply human. \nPraised for her “mesmerizing” interpretation of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante\, where she “surmounted all of its technical challenges with ease and gave us a joyous musical experience” (Julian Lloyd Webber\, solo cellist)\, Sydney Lee captivates audiences with her refined elegance\, expressive depth\, and radiant sincerity. A rising force in the classical music world\, Sydney was awarded First Prize at the 2022 Washington International Competition\, Second Prize at the Classic Strings International Competition\, and became the inaugural recipient of Meadowmount School of Music’s prestigious $50\,000 Gurrena Fellowship. Since making her solo debut at age thirteen with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra\, Sydney has performed across North America and Europe in such renowned venues as Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and Terrace Theater\, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center\, Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium\, and the Konzerthaus Berlin. \nCollaborating with Sydney on this concert is Music for Youth Emerging Artist\, Serena Li. Serena\, age 14\, is one of the talented high school musicians selected by Music for Youth to be part of their Emerging Artists program. She currently studies at Juilliard Pre-College under the tutelage of Clara Minhye Kim\, and has won many awards in cello. \nThis concert is appropriate for adults and seniors\, as well as youth interested in music in grades 4-12. Registration suggested. Register & See Details

SUMMARY:America 250: Abigail Adams\, America's First Modern Woman\, as Told by Her Husband John Adams
DESCRIPTION:As we celebrate the 250th anniversary commemorating the American Revolution and the signing of our Declaration of Independence\, the month of March – designated as National Women’s History Month – is a fitting time to celebrate Abigail Adams\, a woman ahead of her time\, as told by her husband John Adams\, portrayed by George Baker. Please join the Wilton Library for this inspiring performance on Thursday\, Mar. 12\, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. \nSince 2008\, George Baker has portrayed the character of President John Adams in a one-man show throughout the country. He speaks with admiration\, humor\, and affection about his wife\, Abigail\, the “First Modern American Woman\,” describing how she defied the sexist conventions of her time\, that married women could not own property\, yet\, with her amazing financial skills and insights\, made the Adams family prosperous. She helped John found the new nation\, advised him in important political affairs\, and raised their son\, John Quincy Adams\, to be prepared to ultimately become Ambassador to Great Britain\, Secretary of State\, and finally President of the United States. It is a story about their romance\, challenges\, trials\, and accomplishments\, which is the story of ordinary people living in extraordinary times. \nGeorge Baker: \nGeorge Baker has portrayed the character of President John Adams in a one-man show throughout the country at national conventions and venues like Mystic Seaport\, the Presidential Libraries of Harry S Truman\, Dwight D. Eisenhower\, and George H. W. Bush\, and the New York Historical Society\, and was featured as John Adams on NPR‘s weekend program\, Studio 360. SUMMARY:From Petition to Parish: The Petition of Faith (1726) Immersive Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Step into the past and experience the birth of a community in The Petition of Faith (1726)\, an immersive walking theater experience through the historic grounds of Sharp Hill Cemetery on Saturday\, June 20. Guided by a young girl named Faith\, audiences journey back to a time when the residents of Wilton faced a difficult challenge: traveling long distances to worship in neighboring towns while dreaming of establishing a parish of their own. As Faith carries a petition through the graveyard\, visitors encounter the men and women whose courage\, sacrifice and determination helped shape the future of Wilton. \nAlong the way\, historical figures emerge from among the stones to share their stories\, hopes and struggles. Meet farmers\, families\, community leaders\, and ministers whose lives were intertwined with the effort to build a church and create a stronger identity for a growing settlement. Through moving performances and the atmospheric setting of the cemetery itself\, history comes vividly to life around you. \nBlending authentic local history with immersive storytelling\, The Petition of Faith offers a unique opportunity to walk alongside the founders of Wilton and witness the events that led to the creation of the Wilton Congregational Church nearly 300 years ago. \nThis immersive theatrical experience is brought to you through the collaborate efforts of the Wilton Historical Society\, Wilton Congregational Church and ArtSynergy Productions. \nArtSynergy Productions creates immersive\, site-specific theatrical experiences that transform non-traditional venues into living stages. By blending storytelling\, environment and audience participation\, we create meaningful shared experiences that celebrate local history\, foster human connection\, and bring communities together through the power of live theater. \nPerformances will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday\, June 20. Each performance takes approximately an hour.

SUMMARY:“Last Meeting in Millbrook” – An Immersive Historical Vampire Tale
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Historical Society is thrilled to be partnering with\nEscapism Productions for an upcoming immersive historical theatre experience! \nConnecticut\, 1793: A wasting sickness has descended upon the parish of Millbrook\, carrying off entire households and leaving several of the community’s governing offices vacant. With several civic leaders among the dead\, the remaining inhabitants have been summoned to the meetinghouse to account for the spread of the illness\, and determine who can be trusted to restore order. \nFear has already taken root. Neighbors whisper that the deaths are no ordinary work of consumption. Strange marks have been discovered upon the bodies. The newly buried do not seem to rest easily. Some claim that something moves between the sickrooms after nightfall\, feeding upon the living while hiding behind a familiar face. \nAs more evidence is gathered and old suspicions rise to the surface\, another death strikes before the assembled parish. Someone in Millbrook knows more than they confess. \nBefore the meeting can end\, the inhabitants must uncover what is consuming their community and determine whether the evil they seek lies beneath the earth or stands among them. \nThis immersive production is performed at the Wilton Historical Society. This experience allows guests to explore the Society’s historic Sloan-Raymond-Fitch House\, interacting directly with the characters to uncover secrets\, expose evidence\, and influence the ending. \nPerformance Dates and Times \n\nFriday\, Oct. 2\, 7-8:30 p.m.\nSaturday\, Oct. 3\, 8-9:30 p.m.\nSunday\, Oct. 4\, 4-5:30 p.m.\nSunday\, Oct. 4\, 7-8:30 p.m.\n\nBe sure to bundle your tickets with the Society’s popular Colonial Tavern Night on Oct. 4. \nTickets are $50 for Wilton Historical Society members\, and $60 for non-members.
