DESCRIPTION:The 46th Annual John Rhodes Jazz Symposium will be held on Friday\, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. in the Little Theater at Wilton High School. This event is a showcase of jazz bands from Wilton and other area high schools playing works by the great jazz artists. WHS Band Directors Troy Williams and Niall Reynolds will host the affair. Everyone in the community is invited to come enjoy the inspired performances of our area’s young musical talent. \nThis year the program will feature four jazz ensembles from Cider Mill\, Middlebrook\, Wilton High School and other area high schools.  The evening concludes with a performance from the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra.

SUMMARY:Wilton Reads: Songs of Ships & Sailors
DESCRIPTION:Please join Wilton Library in the Brubeck Room for a unique concert featuring arrangements from Songs of Ships & Sailors\, a songbook written by the Castlebay Singers and published in 2021. The book contains over 160 songs gleaned from the many hundred songs they found in archives at the Maine Folklife center\, the Library of Congress\, the Helen Hartness Collection\, and several others. Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee interpret these songs with their own artistic skill\, making them attractive and available to a modern audience while retaining historic integrity and weaving in commentary relevant to the song and its provenance. \nSince 1986\, Castlebay has been weaving together Maine’s nautical and British Isles legacies\, transporting their audience through time and across the Atlantic. Lane and Gosbee have loved and researched traditional music for most of their lives and blend history\, legend and experience into their personable performances. Rich and exuberant renditions of traditional and original songs are supported with Celtic harp\, 14-string guitar\, fiddle & woodwinds. SUMMARY:Wilton High School Senior Show
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton High School Senior Show 2023 presents The Long Run\, an original musical comedy written by Jake Enman\, Rebecca Nisco\, Henry Purcell and Natalie Schlesinger. The musical is loosely based on the 1904 Olympic marathon. \nThe show is being staged on Friday\, Feb. 10\, and Saturday\, Feb. 11\, at 7 p.m. in the WHS Little Theater. Tickets are on sale now online\, $5 for students\, $10 for adults.
