DESCRIPTION:Please join Wilton Library via Zoom for an interesting feline behavior webinar that explains cat behavior from the perspective of the evolutionary and adaptive forces that shape their lives. \nThis informative discussion by Stephen Quandt\, Feline Behaviorist\, will cover: cats’ relationship to hunting and resting through the Cycle of Predation that can lead to “drive-by” behaviors; their sense of identity in being a predator or being prey that can result in fearful cats or fear aggression; their relationship with us as influenced by the mother/kitten relationship; and finally the relationship between hunger\, appetite\, metabolism and exercise. \nThis 60-minute session will include Q&A from patrons who would like cat behavior advice. Quandt is a shelter-trained and Fear Free Certified feline behaviorist with the Animal Care Centers of New York City. He is also in private practice as a feline behaviorist who specializes in a compassionate\, educational and affordable approach to cat behavior. Registration is required. Mutt Strut & Friends Virtual gives everyone the chance to showcase their dogs\, win prizes\, and raise funds to build more of the NRVT. Mutt Strut & Friends Virtual begins May 16 and runs to June 5. \nPost your favorite picture of your dog (or other friends.. cat\, ferret\, bunny\, etc.) or share a short video of clip of those crazy dog tricks. The Top Dog/Cutest Pet/Best Video entries will win prizes for pets and their humans\, including Cannondale Bikes\, Joy Food fresh dog food\, grooming\, and other prizes in addition to the prestigious Mutt Strut & Friends Virtual trophies. \nPlease visit the website for entry directions and check the Mutt Strut & Friends Virtual Leaderboard daily to see the leading “mutts”. \nDuring the Coronavirus crisis\, the NRVT had trail use spike by over 150%. The NRVT has eight miles of completed trail and 22 more miles to build. Join us at JoyRide of Wilton next Saturday\, Oct. 20\, at 11 a.m. for a 50-minute cycling class with Adam\, followed by refreshments. \nWe’ll make it worth the sweat–all riders will go home with a doggy swag bag containing $25 to use toward any boarding\, grooming\, daycare\, or training service at Passage East\, as well as a 10% off coupon towards any purchase at Pet Pantry\, located right next to the studio. \nMinimum donation is $40 per rider\, to be paid in cash or check made out to Wilton Library Association at the time of the event. Space is limited to 36 riders\, so sign up now on the JoyRide website. \nMore about the “25 for 25” Challenge:  In this year’s budgeting process\, the Library was challenged by the Town of Wilton to raise $25\,000 in additional funding which would be matched by the Town\, thereby reaching Wilton Library’s original budget request. Because of the Town’s challenging budget year\, the library has launched its ’25 for 25′ Campaign\, which is a critical piece in securing the organization’s operating funds. \nThe Library has always been there for us–now it’s our turn to show them some love!
