Wilson was awarded “Best Playwright” in 2016 by the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for the piece. At the end of the presentation\, Wilson will conduct a “talk-back” session. \nRooted in research\, A Journey is a tour-de-force of acting and song\, as the statuesque Wilson modulates her powerful contralto from a whisper to a fervent spiritual\, capturing the spirits of Harriet Tubman\, Sojourner Truth\, Rosa Parks\, Maya Angelou\, two invented characters she calls the ‘Slave Woman’ and ‘African Queen\,’ and a new historical figure\, Haggar Tonquin of Wilton. DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Family Bicycle Rodeo will be held in the parking lot of Miller-Driscoll School on Saturday\, April 6\, from 10 a.m. to noon (Rain date:  April 7). All ages are welcome. Drop in any time between 10-11 a.m.. The course closes at noon. The guided road ride for ages 12 and up departs at 10:30 a.m.\, but please arrive at 10:00 to allow time for the safety check. \nAfter having their bikes inspected\, participants will be guided through the rodeo course\, where they will learn and practice skills such as hand signaling\, turning in a limited space\, and maneuvering through obstacles. \nRegistration is recommended\, online. A signed waiver is required for each participant riding the course (adults and children). Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile\, his girlfriend and nightclub performer\, Adelaide\, laments that they’ve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler\, Sky Masterson\, for the dough\, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary\, Sarah Brown\, as a result. \nGuys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. DESCRIPTION:The Clune Center Auditorium will soon be flooded with newspapers\, suspenders\, song\, and dance as Wilton High School proudly presents Disney’s Newsies. The students and production team alike have been hard at work since February to create this electrifying production\, which pulses with excitement as a group of newsboys strike to be reasonably compensated for their daily labor. High energy dancing and feel-good songs by legendary composer Alan Menken offer toe-tapping delight as they guide the audience through this thrilling narrative. \nThe story is based on the real life newsies strike of 1899. It centers around charismatic newsboy Jack Kelly (Jack Parrotta) and his new friends\, siblings Davey (Ryan Lynn) and Les (Blake Baumel). After the conniving publisher Joseph Pulitzer (Brycen Addison) raises the price of newspapers for personal profit\, the newsboys refuse to enable his scheme. Jack Kelly\, aided by Davey’s smarts\, passionately leads the newsboys through a strike against the underhanded Pulitzer. Along the way\, romance ensues as Jack meets Katherine Plumber (Sarah Bates)\, a determined yet unknown young journalist who seizes the opportunity to finally cover a compelling story. \n“Audiences can expect to be wowed by the extraordinary talent Wilton High School has to offer\,” says director Meredith Walker. The production staff\, Walker and the students have worked diligently to ensure that the production provides audiences with a gripping portrayal of an inspiring tale.  \nPerformances are in the Clune Center Auditorium on Friday\, May 17 at 8 p.m.\, Saturday\, May 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.\, and Sunday\, May 19 at 4 p.m..  Tickets are $15 each at lunch waves for students\, $16.50 online and at the door one hour prior to each show; cash and check only.  \nTickets and information can be found online.

DESCRIPTION:Wilton’s biggest trucks are rolling in for the 2019 Touch-A-Truck community event\, hosted by the Children’s Day School of Wilton (CDSW). \nOn Saturday\, May 18\, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Middlebook Middle School (131 School Rd.)\, kids of all ages will have the opportunity to get up close\, climb on\, and take photos with cars and trucks all shapes and sizes. Look for police cars\, ambulance\, dump trucks\, school buses\, big rigs\, and so much more. \nIn addition to exploring the variety of cars and trucks\, kids will have the opportunity to experience Robbie’s Ranch petting zoo\, take a ride on the Roaming Railroad\, be amazed by the balloon animals from Twisty Bros\, take photos with their favorite princesses from A Moment of Magic Foundation\, get a glitter tattoo or their face painted\, listen to music and jump in the bounce houses\, just to name a few of the family-friendly activities. \nIt can get pretty loud during the event; for families with sensitivity to noise\, visit during the quiet hour from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.\, with no horns or sirens. \nTouch-a-Truck would not be possible without the generous donations from Wilton-based community organizations. This year’s premier sponsors include Melissa & Doug and ASML. \nThe community event is rain or shine! Admission is $30/family. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Concessions will be available.
