SUMMARY:Wilton Library: Inflation\, Taxes and the Effect on Your Retirement
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library for an educational workshop that may help you in these volatile times. Veteran financial advisor Michael Alimo from USA Financial and Tax Services returns to Wilton Library to discuss how inflation and taxes may affect your retirement. \nGiven the low level of inflation\, is it still an issue for retirement savers and those using their savings to finance retirement expenses? Due to the low inflationary & interest rate environment\, investors have found it next to impossible to receive an acceptable rate of return to keep pace with inflation in traditional CD’s & Money Market accounts. This erodes the “purchasing value” of your money for everyday needs. The question for retirement savers is how to mitigate the impact of inflation. The answer lies in creating a diversified portfolio that includes equity investments. \nTaxes have been a concern for many Americans for decades now. With rising deficits on the federal\, state\, and municipality level\, where does that leave the taxpayer? As they head towards retirement most Americans have squirreled away a fair amount of assets “tax-deferred”. What are these assets truly worth when needed? Currently\, tax law changes are being discussed and changes may be coming. Get prepared. \nOnline registration is required. Email with any questions.

SUMMARY:Wilton Library: The Long and Short of Healthcare in the U.S.
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wilton Library in the Brubeck Room for myths\, misconceptions\, and uncomfortable truths about the way the U.S. Healthcare system does (and doesn’t) work – and what you can do about it. \nThis program is intended for mature and immature audiences and everyone in-between. The U.S. healthcare system is complex\, confusing\, and sometimes dysfunctional in ways that can be scary and dangerous to those whom it is supposed to serve. It often seems as if consumers are the last to be considered when it comes to how healthcare is delivered and paid for. The Wilton Library’s mission is to provide a framework for understanding why the system is the way it is and advice about how to deal effectively with it in a way that entertains as well as informs. \nMike Boswood – the ‘long’ of it – is former CEO of Truven Health Analytics\, Thomson Reuters Healthcare & Science\, Joint MD of Elsevier Science. Joe Magnano – the ‘short’ of it – is former Global Head Legal M&A\, Finance and Investments at Zurich Insurance Group. The speakers have decades of experience in understanding and explaining complicated business issues and are well versed in the intricacies of the healthcare and insurance industries. Their talk is intended for those who have experienced the challenges of grappling with healthcare in the U.S. and also for those who have yet to do so. Online registration is required.
