SUMMARY:Cannon Grange Fair
DESCRIPTION:The 86th Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair will be held on Sunday\, Aug. 26\, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, and will show off the best of Wilton’s agricultural past and present. \nThe Grange will offer a wide assortment of judged exhibits typical at an agricultural fair\, and fairgoers will enjoy seeing entries in categories like culinary arts\, crafts\, vegetables and fruit\, flowers\, sewing and needlework\, bunnies\, poultry and fowl\, watercolor painting\, photography\, and eggs. A variety of specific classes within each major heading are listed in the Fair Book\, so there are plenty of opportunities for competition entry or just viewing. \nRibbons for first\, second\, third\, and honorable mention will be awarded\, as well as the most coveted ribbon to be awarded within each major group–the Best of Show purple rosette. \nAside from competition\, there will also be displays of horticulture\, hand-crafts\, small farm animals\, photography\, eggs\, selected concessionaires and much more for visitors to enjoy. New at the fair this year will be a large gathering of non-profit organizations from Wilton and surrounding towns\, offering table-top displays describing their respective mission statements and information on how to participate. \nAmong the several games for kids and adults will be a late-afternoon watermelon-eating contest\, and a small putting green. \nBright\, yellow-covered fair books are available at Wilton Hardware\, Village Market\, the Town Hall lobby\, Offinger’s Farmstead and Wilton Library. It can also be found online. Entry to judged competition is open to children and adults\, with details and an entry form included in the Fair Book. Entry fees are $1.00 per exhibit\, which may be mailed to PO Box 23 in Wilton\, or paid in person on Saturday\, Aug. 25 from 1-4 p.m.. Entries made on the morning of the Fair are $2.00 per exhibit. \nThe fair committee includes grange members Dearta Fusaro\, Michele Clark\, and Don Offinger of Wilton\, and Doug Shepherd and Bill Mikulewicz of Ridgefield. \nAdmission to the fair is $2.00 per person\, or $1.00 accompanied by a non-perishable food item for the Wilton Social Services Food Pantry. The Fair activities all take place at the historic Cannon Grange Hall and its grounds located at 25 Cannon Rd.. Free parking is available at the Cannondale Railroad Station directly across the street. A signed cross-walk over Cannon Road is located at the Grange’s front door.

DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the date for its third Annual Wilton Winter Carnival. This event\, sponsored by Fairfield County Bank\, will be held on Sunday\, Jan. 26\, from 12-4 p.m.\, and is designed to be fun for all ages! \nVisitors are invited to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides; a live\, ice-sculpting demonstration at the Town Green Gazebo plus pre-carved sculptures at Fairfield County Bank\, Gregory and Adams\, P.C.\, Village Market\, and Wilton Library; live music from WEBE 108; a campfire for roasting marshmallows (children must be accompanied by an adult) hosted by the Wilton Rotary Club; a life-sized Olaf character from Frozen for photo ops; kids activities and crafts provided by Little Green Frog and others; and kids games and treats. Guests can stroll through town to view all Wilton has to offer and stop in at the Wilton Library\, which will be open with special activities and offering a seat to warm up next to the fireplace. \nThere will be many culinary treats as well; food trucks on hand will include Cousins Maine Lobster\, Lucky Dog\, Planet Pizza and more. Adults will also be able to enjoy non-alcoholic and craft beers\, as well as cordial and spirit tastings\, including bourbon\, whiskey\, Scotch and warm cocktails. \nAlso new for this year\, the Chamber is offering free giveaways to the first 250 guests at the carnival–they’ll receive a free yowie multifunctional rally wear–use it as a scarf\, bandana\, headband\, neck warmer\, beanie\, hair cover and so many more uses! \nSupporting sponsors include Kimco Realty and Blue Buffalo; the entertainment sponsor is Passage East Kennels; and media sponsors are GOOD Morning Wilton and WEBE 108\, plus others to be announced. \nThe event is rain\, snow or shine\, so bundle up and come outside and enjoy! \nFor more information\, contact Chamber executive director Debra Hanson or assistant director Camille Carriero at 203.762.0567 or via email.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a winter blast of fun as Wilton Center is transformed into a wonderland of activities for the Wilton Chamber of Commerce‘s annual Winter Carnival! Proudly sponsored by Fairfield County Bank\, the Winter Carnival will be held on Sunday\, Feb. 4 from 12-4 p.m. at the Town Green with other exciting festivities simultaneously taking place around Wilton Center. \nStart off the event with a whimsical horse-drawn wagon ride around the Town Center\, sponsored by Kimco Realty\, and watch a live ice sculpting demonstration by the Gazebo and win prizes for our scavenger hunt by finding the beautiful ice sculptures throughout town! \nAdditional festivities will include a magic show\, character meet-and-greet with your favorite “winter princess and snowman\,” and carnival performers engaging adults and young ones at the Town Green. Activities to keep the kids busy will include face painting\, sand art\, and crafts — all provided by our local organizations participating in the event. \nA selection of food and beverage options will be available from our local food trucks\, Bubble and Brew\, and Cousins Maine Lobster. \nMake sure to stop by the pocket park near the entrance to Schenck’s Island where the Rotary Club of Wilton will be providing a bonfire and s’mores for roasting that afternoon.
