DESCRIPTION:Join Wilton Library for an introduction to the foods\, aromas\, colors and culture of Panama as part of Wilton Reads programming. They are excited to present Chef Yadira Stamp\, an Afro-Latina native of Panama City\, Panama and chef/owner of Esencias Panamenas Catering in Washington\, D.C.. She prepares authentic Panamanian\, Caribbean and Central American dishes and beverages. Esencias Panamenas is the only Panamanian catering company in the U.S. to offer its food nationwide. \nChef Stamp will create a Panamanian tasting menu of finger foods to sample as she speaks about native Panamanian gastronomy and the traditional cooking techniques she still uses today. Culinary matriarchs in the Panamanian countryside taught her. She will also discuss the history of the Panamanian people\, and her own ancestral connection to the building of the Panama Canal. \nStamp was featured in the U.S. media as well as in Panama City\, Panama. She published her first cookbook\, Panama on a Plate: Favorite Foods from My Birthplace\, in 2022. She is now working on her second cookbook\, as well as developing a signature line of carimañolas\, selling in stores nationwide. At secret locations along the Woodcock trails\, participants will sample unique craft beers courtesy of event partner Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield. \nAn event for the entire family\, Frothy Forage also includes samplings of Connecticut’s own Hosmer Mountain Soda products including their famous root beer\, birch beer\, sarsaparilla\, and raspberry sodas. Furry family members are welcome too and will enjoy some sips and goodies along the trek courtesy of Ridgefield Pet. Local sponsors Outdoors Sports Center and Wilton Go Green will also greet guests along their trek with special surprises for everyone. \nFrothy Forage will delight the senses throughout the afternoon with everything from animal encounters\, kid’s activities\, and doughnuts from Uncle Leo’s to live music at the Woodcock pavilion and food for purchase from Bethel’s Taproot Restaurant. \nAll proceeds from this unique event will benefit environmental education programs at Woodcock Nature Center. \n21+ admission is $55 and includes one souvenir tasting glass per ticket purchased\, snacks and goodies from our sponsors\, and a one-of-a-kind trek through the woods and wetlands of Woodcock with Nod Hill Beer sampling at stations along the way. SUMMARY:Virtual Wine Tasting to Benefit First Candle
DESCRIPTION:Who couldn’t use an escape to Italy right about now? While we can’t be there in person\, come join First Candle and Tyler Colman (Dr. Vino)\, the wine director at Parlor\, for a virtual wine tasting. We’ll be tasting two different wines from the leading Barolo producer\, Vietti\, from the spectacular Piedmont region of Italy\, known for Barolo wines\, truffles\, and risotto. \nLuca Currado Vietti will join via prerecorded video to comment on the wines. The white is the Roero Arneis\, an heirloom white grape variety that Luca’s father brought back from the brink of extinction\, and the red “Perbacco\,” which means “wow” in the local dialect. \nThe wines are available for pre-purchase at Parlor. All proceeds will benefit First Candle’s bereavement support for SIDS and stillbirth and education programs on safe sleep.
