SUMMARY:Wilton Library Presents Music for Youth’s Emerging Artists Concert Featuring Award-Winning Cellist Sydney Lee
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library for Music for Youth’s Emerging Artists concert featuring award-winning cellist Sydney Lee. This program celebrates the lyrical intimacy and rich harmonic language of French music from the late Romantic to early 20th century. César Franck’s radiant Sonata in A major anchors the program with its sweeping emotional arc and cyclical design\, a hallmark of French Romanticism. Nadia Boulanger’s Three Pieces for Cello and Piano offer a more introspective voice of poetic miniatures that reveal delicate shades of color and quiet nuance. Camille Saint-Saëns’s beloved The Swan and Gabriel Fauré’s graceful Sicilienne complement these works with their elegance\, warmth\, and timeless melodic charm. Together\, these pieces trace a lineage of French expressivity—refined\, nostalgic\, and deeply human. \nPraised for her “mesmerizing” interpretation of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante\, where she “surmounted all of its technical challenges with ease and gave us a joyous musical experience” (Julian Lloyd Webber\, solo cellist)\, Sydney Lee captivates audiences with her refined elegance\, expressive depth\, and radiant sincerity. A rising force in the classical music world\, Sydney was awarded First Prize at the 2022 Washington International Competition\, Second Prize at the Classic Strings International Competition\, and became the inaugural recipient of Meadowmount School of Music’s prestigious $50\,000 Gurrena Fellowship. Since making her solo debut at age thirteen with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra\, Sydney has performed across North America and Europe in such renowned venues as Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and Terrace Theater\, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center\, Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium\, and the Konzerthaus Berlin. \nCollaborating with Sydney on this concert is Music for Youth Emerging Artist\, Serena Li. Serena\, age 14\, is one of the talented high school musicians selected by Music for Youth to be part of their Emerging Artists program. She currently studies at Juilliard Pre-College under the tutelage of Clara Minhye Kim\, and has won many awards in cello. \nThis concert is appropriate for adults and seniors\, as well as youth interested in music in grades 4-12. Registration suggested. Register & See Details

DESCRIPTION:Join Wilton Library on Saturday\, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. for an Author Talk with renowned teen and children’s author Jason Reynolds. Some of his other works include Twenty-Four Seconds From Now…\, National Book Award Finalist Look Both Ways\, Caldecott Honor There Was a Party for Langston\, and Ain’t Burned All The Bright\, a Caldecott Honor winner. He is also the author of Long Way Down\, a novel in verse which was named a Newbery Honor book\, a Printz Honor Book\, and best young adult work by the Mystery Writers of America’s Edgar Awards. \nReynolds’ book\, Stamped: Racism\, Antiracism\, and You\, written in collaboration with author and historian Dr. Ibram X. Kendi\, is a gripping\, fast-paced and energizing narrative that illuminates the many insidious forms of racist ideas and gives readers the tools to identify and stamp out racist thoughts in their own lives. \nReynolds currently lives and writes in Washington\, DC\, and has served three terms as the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. \nElm Street Books will be on site to sell different books written by Reynolds. Attendees may also preorder books from Elm Street Books online and pick up the books at the event to be signed by the author. SUMMARY:"Shakespeare in Love"
DESCRIPTION:Wilton High School Theatre kicks off the season with Shakespeare in Love\, the romantic comedy based on the 1998 film of the same title. A young Shakespeare is out of cash and ideas\, when he meets his ideal woman and she inspires him to write one of the most famous stories of all time. Shakespeare in Love is a delightful imagining of Shakespeare’s possible world and the calamity of Elizabethan theatre.

SUMMARY:Free Youth Gardening Program at Trackside
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a budding youth gardener?  The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s spring sessions have started at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary — just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The summer session of the program is held Mondays\, 9-11 a.m. from June 23-Aug 11. Sign up any time. \nAn initiative of the Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining\, harvesting as well as learning about pollinators and how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects. All of the produce grown is donated weekly to the Wilton Food Pantry and the fresh flowers grown are cut and arranged for the Wilton Senior Center. \n“Green Teens goal is to get more young people involved with creating and maintaining vegetable gardens\, to teach them about the importance of healthy foods\, and to give back to the community\,” Laurie Musilli\, co-chair of WGC’s youth gardening committee\, said. “There’s something in this program for everyone.” \nTo register\, contact Musilli via email or Pam Nobumoto via email. Sign-ups are welcome at any time; registration is ongoing. For more information visit the Green Teens page on the Trackside website.
