SUMMARY:"A Charlie Brown Christmas" at the Wilton Playshop
DESCRIPTION:A Charlie Brown Christmas\, based upon the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz\, is back by popular demand and will be presented on the Wilton Playshop stage from Dec. 7-9\, 2018. Based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson\, this holiday favorite was adapted for the stage by Eric Schaeffer. Jeffrey Spector will direct and Christine Titus will choreograph this stage adaptation of the classic animated television special in which Charlie Brown\, Snoopy\, and the other Peanuts grapple with the real meaning of Christmas. \nWhen Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism he sees during the Christmas season\, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown accepts\, but this proves to be a frustrating endeavor. When his attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit with a forlorn little Christmas tree fails\, Linus helps him learn the true meaning of Christmas. \nRecommended for children of all ages. Approximate running time is 40 minutes. \nTickets:  $20/adults\, $15/ages 12 and under \nFor more information\, visit the Wilton Playshop website.

SUMMARY:Wilton Playshop Holds Auditions for "Guys and Dolls"
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Playshop will hold auditions for Guys and Dolls on Sunday\, Feb. 3 and Monday\, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday\, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.. Directed by Lynne Colatrella with musical direction by Zachary Kampler and choreography by Lauren Nicole Sherwood\, the show will run April 26-May 11\, 2019. \nSet in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City\, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile\, his girlfriend and nightclub performer\, Adelaide\, laments that they’ve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler\, Sky Masterson\, for the dough\, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary\, Sarah Brown\, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. \nFor role descriptions\, visit the Wilton Playshop website.

SUMMARY:"A Journey...." One-Woman Show by Kimberly Wilson
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of March as Women’s History Month\, Wilton Library and the Wilton Historical Society present A Journey . . .\, a one-woman show by Westport writer and actress Kimberly Wilson. Wilson was awarded “Best Playwright” in 2016 by the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for the piece. At the end of the presentation\, Wilson will conduct a “talk-back” session. \nRooted in research\, A Journey is a tour-de-force of acting and song\, as the statuesque Wilson modulates her powerful contralto from a whisper to a fervent spiritual\, capturing the spirits of Harriet Tubman\, Sojourner Truth\, Rosa Parks\, Maya Angelou\, two invented characters she calls the ‘Slave Woman’ and ‘African Queen\,’ and a new historical figure\, Haggar Tonquin of Wilton. Wilson skillfully tells of the struggles and influence of Black womanhood as an integral part of the history of the United States. \nA reception will follow the talk. No charge but donations are always welcomed. See the library’s registration link for more details. Registration is highly recommended. Register online or call 203.762.6334.

SUMMARY:"Guys and Dolls" at The Wilton Playshop
DESCRIPTION:Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon\, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows\, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. \nGuys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. The show features some of the most cherished show tunes in American musical theatre\, including\, “Fugue for Tinhorns\,” “Luck Be a Lady\,” and “Sit Down\, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” \nPerformances: \nApril 26\, 27\, May 2\, 3\, 4\, 9\, 10\, and 11 at 8 p.m.\nApril 28 and May 5 at 2 p.m. \nTickets are $35/adults\, $30/senior and students. \nVisit  the Wilton Playshop website  for more information and tickets.
