SUMMARY:Trekking Together — Wilton Land Trust/Woodcock Nature Center Guided Trail Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wilton Land Trust for Trekking Together\, a guided walk along the Nick Parisot Trail (Tito Ln.)\, with Woodcock Nature Center naturalist Tommy McCarthy. \nParking: Meet at the trailhead on Tito Ln.\, between Whipstick Rd. and Millstone Rd.\, park along Tito Ln. \nImmerse yourself in the beauty of fall along one of Wilton’s most scenic trails. McCarthy from Woodcock Nature Center will highlight the seasonal changes taking place and point out migratory birds and native plants along the way. \nThis family-friendly event is a great opportunity to connect with nature\, explore a lesser-known Wilton Land Trust preserve\, and learn more about local ecology. \nPlease wear long pants with socks and sturdy shoes — tick precautions are required. No prior experience needed — just bring your curiosity! \nMcCarthy is an environmental educator at Woodcock Nature Center. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science from Evergreen State College in Washington State and recently completed UConn’s Master Gardener program. Connecticut’s beautiful nature preserves played a large role in the development of Tommy’s interests in science and the environment\, and he is an enthusiast when it comes to exploring nature and watching wildlife — especially birdwatching!

SUMMARY:Fall Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and Community Gardens\, with Joe Bear
DESCRIPTION:Join expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener and Wilton resident Joe Bear for this free series of three fall migration bird walks at Allen’s Meadow. Millions of birds journey south this time of year to their wintering grounds\, some here in Connecticut\, some as far away as the pampas grasslands of South America. Bear will lead us on a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields/meadow\, woodland edges\, the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants\, and the new native pollinator meadow. Fall sightings in recent years have included bobolinks\, dickcissels\, indigo buntings\, a variety of warblers\, orioles\, flycatchers\, sparrows\, as well as several species of soaring raptors including bald eagle. \n\nRegister online. \nThe event is drizzle or shine. Bring binoculars and park in front of the “Field 6” sign.

SUMMARY:Lantern Tour: A Walk Through Time
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Wilton Land Trust and Hillside Cemetery and Arboretum. Featuring Michael Carool and Lisa Bargmann from Rediscovering History. \nJoin us this fall for a unique evening stroll through nature and history. Our Lantern Tour begins at dusk as we walk through the Wilton Land Trust’s beautiful Chestnut Meadow\, guided by soft lantern light and the colors of autumn. The path will wind its way toward the historic Old Section of Hillside Cemetery\, where stories from Wilton’s past come alive. \nAlong the way\, we’ll stop at the gravestones of Revolutionary War patriots\, founding families and memorable characters who helped shape the town we know today. It’s a chance to reflect\, learn and connect with Wilton’s deep roots under the stars. \nWe’ll finish the evening with hot cider and donuts\, shared among neighbors and new friends. Please bring a flashlight and wear sturdy walking shoes.
