SUMMARY:Wilton Library: Stanley Kunitz Poetry Discussion with Janet Krauss
DESCRIPTION:Janet Krauss leads a discussion of a selection of poems by Stanley Kunitz. Kunitz was so well respected as a poet\, he was twice named Poet Laureate of the United States\, first in 1974 and then in 1995. Many years previously\, he received the Pulitzer for Selected Poems\, 1928-1958. In 1993\, President Clinton honored him with the National Medal of Arts. In Passing Through\, published in 1995\, his poems were described by a critic as “contemplative\, confiding\, mythic and elegiac.” Janet Krauss\, who has two books of poetry published\, “Borrowed Scenery\,” Yuganta Press\, and “Through the Trees of Autumn\,” Spartina Press\, has recently retired from teaching English at Fairfield University. SUMMARY:Recycled Crafts for Kids
DESCRIPTION:Kids ages 8 – 12 are invited to join this crafting class hosted by Fiona Conway. Fiona is an upcoming 11th grade Girl Scout completing her Gold Award. Kids will make crafts out of recycled materials that they find around the house that would otherwise be thrown away and contribute to pollution. Online registration is required for each individual class. Start gathering and saving materials for the next couple of weeks including egg cartons\, cardboard\, scrap paper\, popsicle sticks\, used straws\, and anything else you think could be used in a craft. Fiona will email parents before classes each week to update them on the materials needed for that week. Any other materials may include pipe cleaners\, glue\, markers\, or paint\, but each craft can be personalized so no specific thing is required. Registration required.
