Review authority extends to new construction\, substantial reconstruction and rehabilitation of properties; including but not limited to\, the design and placement of buildings\, the maintenance of public views\, the design\, paving materials and placement of public roadways\, signage and other elements that maintain and protect the unique character of the designated village districts. \nServing as the Town’s ARB\, the panel is responsible for the review of special permit and site plan applications involving new construction\, significant site and exterior and/or facade alterations for properties that are not part of a designated village district. \nThe VDDAC/ARB’s overarching mission is to work with applicants in a constructive and collaborative manner so as to foster successful design outcomes that are appropriate to and representative of Wilton’s unique character.  Refer to the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Wilton for further detail and guidance.

SUMMARY:The Wilton Library Presents Film Screening: “Join or Die”
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library at a special screening of Join or Die\, a film about why you should join a club…and why the fate of America depends on it. \nIn this Emmy-nominated feature documentary\, follow the half-century story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam\, whose groundbreaking Bowling Alone research into America’s decades-long decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis. The film also discusses the direct impact of social disconnection on mortality rates\, arguing that people living in social isolation die earlier than those with stronger social bonds. Flanked by influential fans and scholars — from Priya Parker\, Pete Buttigieg\, and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to Jane McAlevey\, and Eddie Glaude Jr. — as well as inspiring groups building community in neighborhoods across the country\, Bob explores three urgent civic questions: What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? And\, most importantly… What can we do about it? \nAbout Robert Putnam: \nHarvard professor Robert D. Putnam is America’s preeminent political scientist — and one of the most widely read and cited social scientists living today. Author of fourteen books\, translated into twenty languages\, his work focuses on asking big questions about American society and deploying immense\, creative studies and analyses to unlock answers. \nHis Bowling Alone research — which demonstrated that levels of American community connections were in decline over the past half-century — rocketed Putnam to national fame in the late 1990s\, earning him the moniker “the poet laureate of civil society” and the ear of presidents\, religious leaders\, and tech founders over the coming decades. In 2012\, Putnam received the National Humanities Medal\, the nation’s highest honor for contributions to the humanities. As more Americans turn on to the reality of our social isolation crisis\, a consistent drumbeat of media interest in revisiting Putnam’s work has grown. More information is available at https://joinordiefilm.com/. \nDoors will open at 6:30 p.m\, with the film to begin at 7:00 p.m. The run time is 90 minutes. Movie snacks & refreshments provided. \nRegistration is requested. Please register online or call (203) 762-6334. \nThis program is made possible by the generosity and collaboration of Block Party USA\, Town of Wilton Social Services\, Wilton Library\, Wilton Public Schools\, and Wilton Youth Council.

SUMMARY:Wilton Candlelight Concerts: Tesla String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:The Tesla Quartet is known the world over for their “superb capacity to find the inner heart of everything they play\, regardless of era\, style\, or technical demand” (The International Review of Music). From cutting-edge contemporary works to established masterpieces\, the Tesla Quartet’s emotive and thoughtful interpretations reveal the ensemble’s deep commitment to the craft and to their ever-expanding repertoire. The quartet recognizes the power of their platform to amplify underrepresented voices and to encourage the proliferation of an equitable and just future for society as well as a hospitable climate for posterity. \nThe quartet performs regularly across North America and Europe\, with recent highlights including their debut at New York’s Lincoln Center\, a return to London’s Wigmore Hall\, and performances at Stanford University’s Bing Concert Hall as winners of the prestigious John Lad Prize. Other recent international engagements include tours of Brazil\, China\, and South Korea. Notable festival appearances include the Banff Centre International String Quartet Festival; the Joseph Haydn String Quartet Festival at the Esterházy Palace in Fertőd\, Hungary; the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival in Germany; and the Festival Sesc de Música de Câmara in São Paulo\, Brazil. \nThe Quartet commissioned 12 works by composers from across North America in 2020 for their online series Alternating Currents\, an homage to Beethoven and a celebration of diverse voices. Tesla Quartet has also helped pioneer ImmerSphere\, an immersive augmented reality virtual concert experience\, bringing familiar community stages directly into the homes of concert-starved audiences. With renewed hope for a brighter future\, the Tesla Quartet is focusing its efforts in the coming seasons on inspiring climate action with the commissions of several works for string quartet that touch on different aspects of the climate crisis and recovery. \nThe group originally formed at The Juilliard School in 2008 and quickly established itself as one of the most promising young ensembles in New York\, winning Second Prize at the J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition only a few months after its inception. From 2009 to 2012\, the quartet held a fellowship as the Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Colorado-Boulder\, where they studied with the world-renowned Takács Quartet. They have also held fellowships at the Aspen Music Festival’s Center for Advanced Quartet Studies\, the Britten-Pears Young Artist Program\, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. \nThe Tesla Quartet is Ross Snyder (violin)\, Michelle Lie (violin)\, Edwin Kaplan (viola)\, and Austin Fisher (cello). \n  \nThis event is on Sunday\, Mar. 22\, at 4:00 p.m. \nBuy Tickets Here

He has served as President of PACE since 2016 and recently introduced its Clean Energy Action Center. A native of Simsbury\, Mark is active in his local Sustainability Committee. He sits on the Advisory Committee of the CT Coalition for Climate Action and speaks regularly on solar and other clean energy issues. \nBernard Pelletier serves as a Vice President for PACE. He also volunteers at the state level recently joining Connecticut’s Energy Efficiency Board as the Residential Representative. Prior to that he co-chaired the Building Working Group of the Governor’s Council on Climate Change. His focus is on building energy efficiency and renewable energy adoption. In 2005\, he founded the Portland\, CT\, Clean Energy Task Force\, which he continues to Chair. Andy became Coordinator of the CT Energy Network in 2024 and hosted a 2025 press conference at the legislature\, highlighting the many necessary aspects of CT’s Public Benefits Charge.
