DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Garden Club will dedicate its new Bee Resilient Garden at Hillside Cemetery and Arboretum on Tuesday\, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event and learn more about the garden and the important role native plants play in supporting pollinators and local wildlife. \nPartially funded with a Bee Resilient Garden Grant from the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut\, the garden was designed as a contemplative space for people visiting loved ones at the cemetery. \nThe garden features several of ecologist Doug Tallamy’s keystone plants\, along with a variety of native perennial pollinator plants\, including milkweed. These plants provide valuable habitat and food for our native bees\, butterflies and other pollinators\, while the milkweed provides essential support for visiting monarch butterflies. \nThe garden demonstrates how even a small\, thoughtfully designed native-plant garden can provide meaningful benefits for both people and pollinators.

Millions of birds journey south to their wintering grounds this time of year\, some staying in Connecticut\, some traveling as far away as the pampas grasslands of South America. Bear will lead us on a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known CT birding hot spot has to offer – open fields/meadow\, woodland edges\, the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants\, and the new native pollinator meadow. Fall sightings in recent years have included bobolinks\, dickcissels\, indigo buntings\, a variety of warblers\, orioles\, flycatchers\, sparrows\, as well as several species of soaring raptors including bald eagle.\n\n\nRegister online. \nThe event is drizzle or shine. From early cottage industries like horse-hair screens and carriage-making to high tech advancements\, find out what makes Wilton a unique home for technology. \nThis panel discussion will follow the stories of three companies: the Gilbert & Bennett Manufacturing Co.\, the precision optics of PerkinElmer to ASML\, and Cannondale Bicycle. \nJoining us in discussion will be Wilton Historical Society Director Nick Foster\, ASML Fellow Chip Mason\, tech policy lecturer Bill Bonvillian\, and Cannondale Director of R&D and Testing Curtis Detwiler. \nThe talk will be held on Thursday\, Sept. 24 at the Wilton Historical Society at 6 p.m. The event is free for Historical Society members; for non-members\, there is a $10 fee. \nThis event is co-sponsored by the Wilton Library.

Neighbors whisper that the deaths are no ordinary work of consumption. Strange marks have been discovered upon the bodies. The newly buried do not seem to rest easily. Some claim that something moves between the sickrooms after nightfall\, feeding upon the living while hiding behind a familiar face. \nAs more evidence is gathered and old suspicions rise to the surface\, another death strikes before the assembled parish.
