DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library for this in-person session of the AARP Driver Safety Program\, which is the nation’s first and largest classroom driver safety course designed especially for drivers age 50 and older\, although all ages are welcome. \nThis single-session course covers the normal changes in vision\, hearing and reaction time associated with aging and provides practical techniques on how to adjust to these changes along with learning to operate vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. \nThere are no written or driving tests. The session will be in-person in the classroom only. NY residents: please contact your insurance carrier to confirm they will accept a Connecticut State class certificate. Program cost is $20 for AARP members; $25 for non-members. Bring check (preferred) or cash only to the session. Also bring lunch if desired; there will be a 30-minute break. SUMMARY:[Wilton Reads] Wilton History Film Screening — Recollections & Remembrances: Stories of Wilton's Yesterdays (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Please join Wilton Library for a trip down memory lane as we screen the 2002 documentary film about Wilton’s history\, produced on the 200th anniversary of the town’s separation from Norwalk in 1802\, when Wilton was a farm town with one-room schools\, unpaved roads and swimming in the river. \nOral historians interviewed long-time residents\, some with family histories going back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Filmmakers then combined their footage with historical photographs to create this wonderful film. Narrated by David and Maureen Canary with music by Chris and Dave Brubeck\, the film follows Wilton’s path from its early roots through two world wars\, the Depression\, a major hurricane and a flood and into the post-WWII period of growth.
