DESCRIPTION:My Wilton TeenZine\nPresented by the Wilton Library Teen Department and Teen Library Council\nOpen for submissions March 1-April 22 \nWe are looking for writing and art from Wilton teens in Grades 6-12 that answers one or more of the following questions: \nWhat does Wilton mean to you?\nWhat’s your favorite thing\, place\, or person in Wilton?\nWhat do you think is the future of Wilton?\nWhat do new residents of Wilton need to know?\nAnything else relating to Wilton’s past\, present\, or future? \nWe’re especially interested in hearing from new residents or teens with a unique perspective. \nAcceptable submissions include: \n\nPoetry\nShort essays\, stories\, or other prose between 200-700 words\nArtwork such as collages\, photography\, paintings\, and drawings that are able to be reproduced in .jpg format — submitted artwork may also be used as the cover of the zine. If you’d like to submit artwork specifically to be considered for the cover\, please do!\n\nSubmissions will be considered by teen library staff and teen volunteers in the Teen Library Council. Students whose submissions are accepted for publication will receive a token of appreciation for their contribution (to be announced) along with copies of the zine to share with your friends and family. \nTo submit\, send your writing as a .doc file or artwork as a .jpg file via email. SUMMARY:[Wilton Reads] Wilton History Film Screening — Recollections & Remembrances: Stories of Wilton's Yesterdays (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Please join Wilton Library for a trip down memory lane as we screen the 2002 documentary film about Wilton’s history\, produced on the 200th anniversary of the town’s separation from Norwalk in 1802\, when Wilton was a farm town with one-room schools\, unpaved roads and swimming in the river. \nOral historians interviewed long-time residents\, some with family histories going back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Filmmakers then combined their footage with historical photographs to create this wonderful film. Narrated by David and Maureen Canary with music by Chris and Dave Brubeck\, the film follows Wilton’s path from its early roots through two world wars\, the Depression\, a major hurricane and a flood and into the post-WWII period of growth.
