Bring your favorite book or pick from one provided by CHS. \nWatch your child’s confidence in reading grow as they bring comfort and compassion to shelter pets. Reading sessions are 20 minutes long and will be offered on Monday\, Dec. 29 and Tuesday\, Dec. 30. Pre-registration is required. \nThere is a registration fee of $12.51 per child\, per session. DESCRIPTION:Trees for Trout is back in Wilton! \nConsider “eco-cycling” your tree with Trout Unlimited to help improve the health of our local rivers! Each year\, millions of Christmas trees are simply discarded after the holidays\, but can go to good use providing habitat for a number of species. \nTU volunteers will happily turn your natural tree into important habitat for trout in the Norwalk River. Your tree will join others in helping stabilize stream-banks\, reduce erosion and create refuge habitat for juvenile trout and other aquatic life during projects all summer long. \nCollection will take place on both Saturday\, Jan. 3 and Saturday\, Jan. 10 at Merwin Meadows Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. both days. Just drive up with your tree and our volunteers will take care of the rest. \nSuggested donation is $10 \nFriendly reminder: natural trees only — synthetic trees or trees with tinsel or flocking cannot be accepted.

SUMMARY:Architectural Review Board/Village District Design Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The combined Architectural Review Board (ARB) and the Village District Design Advisory Committee (VDDAC) is charged with providing expert architectural guidance to applicants and design recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission in the review of certain commercial and non-commercial development applications.  Consisting of five members\, the entity functions as a combined panel that serves in two distinct capacities depending on the nature and location of the proposal.  The panel serves in an advisory capacity only. The public can attend these open meetings via Zoom. \nRegular meetings of the Architectural Review Board /Village District Design Advisory Committee are held on the first Thursday of each month\, unless otherwise scheduled due to holiday. \nWhen functioning as the VDDAC\, the panel reviews development proposals that are situated in geographic locations known as “Village Districts\,” which are neighborhoods of distinctive character\, unifying architectural interest\, and/or historic value; and\, at present\, include Wilton Center and commercially-zoned sections of Cannondale. Review authority extends to new construction\, substantial reconstruction and rehabilitation of properties; including but not limited to\, the design and placement of buildings\, the maintenance of public views\, the design\, paving materials and placement of public roadways\, signage and other elements that maintain and protect the unique character of the designated village districts. \nServing as the Town’s ARB\, the panel is responsible for the review of special permit and site plan applications involving new construction\, significant site and exterior and/or facade alterations for properties that are not part of a designated village district. \nThe VDDAC/ARB’s overarching mission is to work with applicants in a constructive and collaborative manner so as to foster successful design outcomes that are appropriate to and representative of Wilton’s unique character.  Refer to the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Wilton for further detail and guidance.

DESCRIPTION:Trees for Trout is back in Wilton! \nConsider “eco-cycling” your tree with Trout Unlimited to help improve the health of our local rivers! Each year\, millions of Christmas trees are simply discarded after the holidays\, but can go to good use providing habitat for a number of species. \nTU volunteers will happily turn your natural tree into important habitat for trout in the Norwalk River. Your tree will join others in helping stabilize stream-banks\, reduce erosion and create refuge habitat for juvenile trout and other aquatic life during projects all summer long. \nCollection will take place on both Saturday\, Jan. 3 and Saturday\, Jan. 10 at Merwin Meadows Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. both days. Just drive up with your tree and our volunteers will take care of the rest. \nSuggested donation is $10 \nFriendly reminder: natural trees only — synthetic trees or trees with tinsel or flocking cannot be accepted.

This workshop explores the unique mental and emotional challenges young athletes face and offers practical\, evidence-based strategies to foster resilience\, balance\, and confidence- both on and off the field. Join Yale Child Study Center psychiatrist and former professional European basketball player\, Dr. Ayotunde Ayobello to: \n\nUnderstand the pressures\, stressors\, and emotional experiences of student-athletes\nLearn to identify when stress\, anxiety\, or perfectionism may be negatively impacting student-athletes\nDiscover practical ways to help student-athletes develop coping skills\, confidence\, and a growth mindset\nLearn how to encourage student-athletes to explore interests beyond sports and develop a well-rounded sense of self\n\nAyobello is an Assistant Professor of Child Psychiatry and provides outpatient psychiatric care at the Yale Child Study Center in Westport\, Connecticut. As a former elite athlete\, a power forward and center for the Crimea State Basketball Team from 2008 to 2014\, Ayobello brings first hand understanding of the psychological demands of competitive sports. His experience informs his work in fostering resilience and integrating mental health strategies into athletic performance.
