This well known and loved theatrical performance is based on the Disney movie that was first released in 1994. \nLion King Jr. is a remarkable tale of hope and adventure. It tells the story of Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. You won’t be able to resist moving to the familiar beat of “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” and “Hakuna Matata.” \nTickets are available online for $13.50 until Friday\, Nov. 22  and at the door for $14.00 at Middlebrook School (cash and checks only). DESCRIPTION:Has the back-to-school honeymoon worn off? As school gets into full swing\, the academic and social stresses can get to be too much\, and result in behavioral changes. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Child and Adolescent Network (CAN) is a support group for parents of children with behavioral\, emotional and mental health issues. The meeting is free\, confidential\, safe and led by trained volunteer facilitators who themselves have had personal experiences raising children with these concerns. Parents come from Redding\, Weston\, Westport\, Wilton and towns in the surrounding area. The Wilton Historical Society is the place to be–come enjoy the ever-popular Great Trains Holiday Show! \nAfter the familiar Thanksgiving rituals of parades\, turkey and football\, keep the family fun going\, and enjoy the beginning of the holiday season. Take the children in your life to an entrancing afternoon with trains and live entertainment. Dressed for the holidays\, the Wilton Historical Society’s historic 18th and 19th century buildings are transformed into a train-lovers delight with many different model train layouts winding through tiny towns with a variety of different kinds of buildings\, tunnels and even a working gondola! The display enchants visitors of all ages with lots of buttons to push and knowledgeable “train engineers” on hand to “talk trains”. \nNew this year–a spectacular model winter village upstairs in the Toy Loft\, which is filled with the favorite toys of yesteryear. In a special train room for the youngest guests\, Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio trains are ready for hands-on fun. \nThe Great Trains Holiday Show is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, and Sundays\, 12-4 p.m.\, beginning Friday\, Nov. 29\, 2019 through Monday\, January 20\, 2020. \nAdmission is free for members of the Society; $5 per non-member child and $10 for non-member adults.

This ancient art form engages the imagination and kickstarts a love of theater at an early age. DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce are inviting individuals\, families\, groups\, organizations and businesses to submit gingerbread or other edible models of Wilton houses or buildings to be put on display in the library. \nDrop off dates and times for the creations are Sunday\, Dec. 1\, from 1-4:30 p.m. and Monday\, Dec. 2\, from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m.. \nEntries will be judged in two age groups by prominent community members. The groups are 12 and under; and ages 13 to adult. \nThis year\, in conjunction with Wilton Library’s 125th anniversary\, the contest celebrates the past\, present and future of Wilton. Residents are encouraged to create an edible model of a house\, building\, public space or any other aspect of Wilton to represent the town’s past\, present and imagined future. Winners will be judged in three categories–Most Whimsical\, Best Historical Wilton Place\, and Most Visionary Design of a Wilton Place. \nFrom Dec. 3-Dec. 16\, visitors to the library also can vote for their favorite models. Winners will be announced Dec. 18 at 4 p.m.. \nWinning submissions\, including the Community Favorite\, will be awarded Wilton Chamber gift certificates courtesy of Fairfield County Bank. DESCRIPTION:With the holidays fast approaching\, the Wilton High School effort\, “Socks for Soldiers” has begun running its next collection for new white tube socks\, non-perishable food items\, gloves\, scarves\, mittens\, “warm fuzzy socks\,”and hygiene items for USA soldiers and veterans. This drive started Nov. 25\, and will end on Monday\, Dec. 16. Continued donations of these items for current and former servicemen and women are greatly appreciated. \nDonation boxes are set up outside the WHS Main Office on the second floor lobby and outside Dann Pompa’s door in the School Counseling wing. \nSocks for Soldiers recently delivered–via mail and in person–items collected this year during the Veterans Day Drive. Since its start in December 2008\, this student-led effort has provided American soldiers and veterans with over 13\,500 pairs of socks. The offerings will include artisan crafts\, jewelry\, clothing unique gift items and\, of course\, delicious food and drinks. \nSimilar to last year’s event\, entertainment will be provided\, which includes music from Cagi and Syd\, and psychic readings by Liza Casatelli Mariani. A special guest this year will be Santa Claus\, who will be in attendance from 12-4 p.m.. Photographer Justin Baird will work his photo magic\, while Tori Santos\, of Fleurish Flowers will decorate the room with exquisite arrangements. \nCircle of Care is the Wilton-based non-profit organization that offers programs and services to support children with cancer and their families. \nWilton resident Janet Montalbano\, of Let’s Make Up\, created the Sip & Shop. “I am so excited that the vision I had four years ago has morphed into something so grand. Every year I have had to locate larger venues to accommodate all of the merchants and attendees.
