DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Teen Library Council (TLC) is a monthly group for youth in grades 6-12 who are interested in becoming more involved with the library. All Wilton teens are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a budding youth gardener?  The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s spring sessions have started at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary — just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The program is held Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trackside\, from May 14-June 11. Sign up any time. The summer session Mondays 9-11 a.m. from June 23-Aug 11.  \nAn initiative of the Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining\, harvesting as well as learning about pollinators and how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects. All of the produce grown is donated weekly to the Wilton Food Pantry and the fresh flowers grown are cut and arranged for the Wilton Senior Center. \n“Green Teens goal is to get more young people involved with creating and maintaining vegetable gardens\, to teach them about the importance of healthy foods\, and to give back to the community\,” Laurie Musilli\, co-chair of WGC’s youth gardening committee\, said. “There’s something in this program for everyone.” \nTo register\, contact Musilli via email or Pam Nobumoto via email. Sign-ups are welcome at any time; registration is ongoing. For more information visit the Green Teens page on the Trackside website.

DESCRIPTION:Look what’s back again! Traditionally hosted by Point Break Tacos\, which closed doors last year\, the 4th annual Duck Race returns\, with the torch to oversee it being passed to Trout Unlimited. \nTrout Unlimited is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of freshwater streams\, rivers\, and associated upland habitats for trout\, salmon\, other aquatic species\, and bringing communities together for this mission. \nThe duck race will take place on Sunday\, May 25 at 10 a.m.\, starting at Schenck’s Island in Wilton Town Center. While the ducks will be racing down the river for about 20 minutes\, participants and guests can explore downtown Wilton for local shopping and eateries as well as learn a few fly-fishing tricks from Trout Unlimited. \nThe participant whose duck crosses the finish line first will win a Sweet Summer prize and the infamous “Big Duck.”  Racing ducks are limited to 150 (one per registrant) and residents and guests are encouraged to register as soon as possible. The cost to enter is $25 per race duck\, with 100% of the proceeds supporting Trout Unlimited’s conservation mission. \nVisit the event website for additional details and registration instructions.

SUMMARY:Free Youth Gardening Program at Trackside
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a budding youth gardener?  The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s spring sessions have started at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary — just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The summer session of the program is held Mondays\, 9-11 a.m. from June 23-Aug 11. Sign up any time. \nAn initiative of the Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining\, harvesting as well as learning about pollinators and how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects. All of the produce grown is donated weekly to the Wilton Food Pantry and the fresh flowers grown are cut and arranged for the Wilton Senior Center. \n“Green Teens goal is to get more young people involved with creating and maintaining vegetable gardens\, to teach them about the importance of healthy foods\, and to give back to the community\,” Laurie Musilli\, co-chair of WGC’s youth gardening committee\, said. “There’s something in this program for everyone.” \nTo register\, contact Musilli via email or Pam Nobumoto via email. Sign-ups are welcome at any time; registration is ongoing. For more information visit the Green Teens page on the Trackside website.

DESCRIPTION:The Planning and Zoning Commission is a nine-member elected body responsible for overseeing land use and development activity within Wilton. Key responsibilities of the commission are reviewing zoning regulation amendment applications\, changes to the Town’s zoning map\, and applications involving the subdivision of land\, and evaluating mandatory referrals from the Board of Selectmen. Additionally\, the commission oversees long-range planning initiatives\, including the preparation of the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. \nPlanning and Zoning Commission Regular Meetings typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of the month\, from 7-9 p.m. \nMeetings can be attended by the public via the Zoom link. \nMembers of the public can submit written comments and questions via email to Land Use Director/Town Planner Michael Wrinn by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting\, or members of the public can comment on Zoom at the appropriate time by raising a hand to notify the host of the intent to provide comments. Public participants will be promoted one at a time to provide comments live on Zoom.

DESCRIPTION:Fresh off the heels of Wilton’s recent Food Truck Festival\, the Fairfield County Dance Festival is headed to Wilton for the very first time\, on Thursday\, July 17 at Schenck’s Island in Wilton Center. \nThe Fairfield County Dance Festival is an annual\, free\, open-air summer performance series produced by East Coast Contemporary Ballet (Norwalk) and Thomas/Ortiz Dance (New Canaan). Curated for and touring throughout Fairfield County\, this dance festival provides greater accessibility to the arts and promotes community engagement. In addition to ECCB and Thomas/Ortiz Dance\, the touring festival features other local artists\, guest dance companies and musicians. \nThe Wilton tour stop is presented by East Coast Contemporary Ballet and sponsored by Wilton’s WildBloom Skincare\, and the event brings together world-class professional dance\, community\, celebration and local flavor for a free and unforgettable evening. \nThe festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a curated lineup of food trucks offering delicious\, diverse options for every craving. Food trucks include Chef Jeff’s BBQ\, JJB Wood Fire Pizza Truck\, The Chamo\, Los Pablanos and Jim’s Ice Cream Truck. Local businesses will be on hand for fun shopping as well. \nAt 5:30 p.m.\, the stage turns local with special community performances by talented young dancers from Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet and a special kids’ pop-up hip hop class from Wilton’s Conservatory of Dance\, with a proud showcase of Wilton’s youth and the strength of local arts education. \nThen\, at 6:30 p.m.\, the main event showcasing ballet\, contemporary and modern dance begins: a professional performance featuring dancers from East Coast Contemporary Ballet\, Thomas/Ortiz Dance and Ballet Frontier.
