DESCRIPTION:Do you have a budding youth gardener?  The free Green Teens youth gardening program’s spring sessions have started at Trackside Teen Center. All rising middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary — just an interest in nature and in helping others\, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The summer session of the program is held Mondays\, 9-11 a.m. from June 23-Aug 11. Sign up any time. \nAn initiative of the Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center\, Green Teens is led by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants engage in hands-on activities like designing garden beds\, planting\, maintaining\, harvesting as well as learning about pollinators and how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. They also hear from occasional guest speakers and make creative garden art projects. All of the produce grown is donated weekly to the Wilton Food Pantry and the fresh flowers grown are cut and arranged for the Wilton Senior Center. \n“Green Teens goal is to get more young people involved with creating and maintaining vegetable gardens\, to teach them about the importance of healthy foods\, and to give back to the community\,” Laurie Musilli\, co-chair of WGC’s youth gardening committee\, said. “There’s something in this program for everyone.” \nTo register\, contact Musilli via email or Pam Nobumoto via email. Sign-ups are welcome at any time; registration is ongoing. For more information visit the Green Teens page on the Trackside website.

Additionally\, the commission oversees long-range planning initiatives\, including the preparation of the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. \nPlanning and Zoning Commission Regular Meetings typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of the month\, from 7-9 p.m. \nMeetings can be attended by the public via the Zoom link. \nMembers of the public can submit written comments and questions via email to Land Use Director/Town Planner Michael Wrinn by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting\, or members of the public can comment on Zoom at the appropriate time by raising a hand to notify the host of the intent to provide comments. SUMMARY:Architectural Review Board/Village District Design Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The combined Architectural Review Board (ARB) and the Village District Design Advisory Committee (VDDAC) is charged with providing expert architectural guidance to applicants and design recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission in the review of certain commercial and non-commercial development applications.  Consisting of five members\, the entity functions as a combined panel that serves in two distinct capacities depending on the nature and location of the proposal.  The panel serves in an advisory capacity only. The public can attend these open meetings via Zoom. \nRegular meetings of the Architectural Review Board /Village District Design Advisory Committee are held on the first Thursday of each month\, unless otherwise scheduled due to holiday. \nWhen functioning as the VDDAC\, the panel reviews development proposals that are situated in geographic locations known as “Village Districts\,” which are neighborhoods of distinctive character\, unifying architectural interest\, and/or historic value; and\, at present\, include Wilton Center and commercially-zoned sections of Cannondale. Review authority extends to new construction\, substantial reconstruction and rehabilitation of properties; including but not limited to\, the design and placement of buildings\, the maintenance of public views\, the design\, paving materials and placement of public roadways\, signage and other elements that maintain and protect the unique character of the designated village districts. \nServing as the Town’s ARB\, the panel is responsible for the review of special permit and site plan applications involving new construction\, significant site and exterior and/or facade alterations for properties that are not part of a designated village district. \nThe VDDAC/ARB’s overarching mission is to work with applicants in a constructive and collaborative manner so as to foster successful design outcomes that are appropriate to and representative of Wilton’s unique character.  Refer to the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Wilton for further detail and guidance.

DESCRIPTION:Select Friday nights each month from 8-10:30 p.m.\, Trackside Teen Center transforms in a salon-like setting for high school students only. \nThis initiative\, created by two of our high school leaders who plan\, execute and oversee all aspects of this offering\, is an opportunity for our teens to have a space to enjoy and express themselves. \nWhat Happens at Late Night?\nStudents use the space as they like. The vibe is different from during the day. The setting offers a lounge-type feel\, dimly lit\, with comfortable couches and cozy seating areas. The entire space is open for a wide range of activities. \nEnjoy live music\, sip coffee or enjoy different food selections at the cafe\, work on personal projects (think…. film making\, podcasts\, senior projects)\, wax philosophical with your peers\, play chess\, pool\, shuffleboard\, ping pong or playstation\, engage in intellectually stimulating and supportive conversations\, read poetry or sing karaoke on the open mic. \nParticipate as you like.
