DESCRIPTION:Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will be hosting weekly drive-through flu vaccine clinics at its Wilton offices on Thursday afternoons\, from Sept. 30 through Nov. 11\, 2-4:30 p.m. \nFlu vaccines are available for individuals over the age of 4 years. Younger children should be taken to a pediatrician for a vaccination. \nThe cost of a flu vaccine is $55. A high-dose vaccine is available for anyone over age 65 and the cost is $75. Visiting Nurse will bill directly to Medicare Part B\, Aetna\, Anthem\, Connecticare or Harvard Pilgrim. \nPeople wishing to register for a vaccine through the drive-through clinic should know the following: \n\nVisit the Visiting Nurse website to download\, print and complete a Consent/Registration Form and bring it to the flu clinic.\nThese are drive-through flu clinics only. Patients must remain in their vehicles at all times.\nMasks must be worn at all times.\nNo pets in the car\nWear short sleeves or sleeves that can be easily rolled up. DESCRIPTION:Residents who missed tours of the current Wilton Police Department headquarters in October have another chance to visit\, this Saturday\, Nov. 13\, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Members of the community are welcome to stop by anytime during these hours for a tour. \nThe tours are being offered in conjunction with the work of the Police-Town Hall Building Committee that was charged with studying the deficiencies and needs of the police headquarters. The committee subsequently made a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen for a new headquarters in front of the existing police building. The Board of Selectmen is expected to recommend a plan to the voters at a special town meeting in early 2022. The committee encourages residents to take advantage of the tours and to learn about the building’s challenges first hand. \nA public information session that took place in October is available online. SUMMARY:Sip & Shop 6th Annual In-Person Event to Benefit Circle of Care
DESCRIPTION:Sip & Shop\, the annual shopping fundraiser held to benefit Circle of Care\, is returning to Wilton as an in-person event at a larger venue than before\, the WEPCO church complex at 48 New Canaan Rd. The event will be held on Thursday\, Nov. 18\, from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Once again\, 100% of event proceeds will be donated to support children with cancer and their families. \nOrganized yearly by Wilton stylist and makeup artist Janet Montalbano of Let’s Make Up\, the 2021 Sip & Shop\, will charge an admission fee of $20 per person since this year’s goal is to raise over $25\,000 for Circle of Care. Last year’s online event raised $15\,000\, so Montalbano is hopeful that an in-person event will raise substantially more. \nEach visitor to Sip & Shop will receive a complimentary raffle ticket\, making them eligible for an assortment of prizes. In addition\, there will be a $100 raffle for a chance to win a fantastic vacation at Lake Norman in North Carolina\, one of the largest and most beautiful man-made lakes in the state\, donated by a Wilton family (restrictions apply). There will also be a 50-50 raffle\, ($20 for one ticket or $50 for three). The drawing will be held at 7:30 p.m. \nMontalbano has brought on a co-host this year\, Justin Baiad\, of Justin Baiad Photography. Other event sponsors include: Silver — Wilton Smiles\, AJC Contracting\, Berkshire Hathaway\, and Fleurish Florals; Gold — Keller Williams Fiona Porter; and Platinum — Mary Aherns Hair for Good. This year’s farm stand will be inside the white carriage barn on Monday\, Nov. 22 from 3 to 6 pm and Tuesday\, Nov. 23 from 9 am to 12 pm. Don’t forget to bring reusable shopping bags. \nThey will sell arugula\, beets\, bok choy\, broccoli raab\, cabbage\, carrots\, celeriac\, celery\, cilantro\, collards\, daikon radishes\, dandelion greens\, dill\, elephant garlic\, fennel\, garlic\, fresh ginger\, Jerusalem artichokes (AKA sunchokes)\, baby kale\, kale\, leeks\, lettuce mix\, lettuce heads\, Mexican sour gherkins\, onions\, parsley\, parsnips\, green peppers\, sweet peppers\, hot peppers\, shishito peppers\, perpetual spinach\, potatoes\, radishes\, scallions\, sweet potatoes (original and Japanese)\, Swiss shard\, tatsoi\, watermelon radishes\, Butternut\, Delicata\, Honeynut\, and Kabocha winter squash.
