DESCRIPTION:The Square Bears Dance Club has recently relocated to Wilton\, bringing access to this fun and healthy activity to Wilton residents of all ages. The Club is pleased to invite area residents to its upcoming Square Dance “Fun Nights.” \nWe will be giving lessons to new dancers at the Wilton Congregational Church on Wednesday\, Sept. 4\, and Wednesday Sept. 11. We will also be giving an introductory class for beginners at the Wilton High School Cafeteria as part of the Wilton Continuing Education program on Friday\, Sept. 13\, from 7:30-9:00 p.m.. \nEach class is aimed at introducing “beginners” to this fun and healthy activity. No experience is necessary. Learn by dancing. Singles and couples\, of all ages\, are welcome. Dress is casual. You will learn 8-10 (or more) steps and experience the joy of dancing in a square by the end of the evening. DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Rotary Club will again sponsor its traditional family carnival from Sept. 13-15 at the corner of School Rd. and Rte. 7. The event benefits the Wilton Rotary Club’s community improvement projects both locally and internationally. GOOD Morning Wilton is the media sponsor of the event. \nCarnival hours are:  Friday\, Sept. 13\, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday\, Sept. 14\, noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday\, Sept. 15\, noon-5 p.m.. Staged by Tufano Amusements\, the carnival will offer over 11 different rides for a variety of ages as well as multiple games of chance. Food options include Bubble and Brew serving specialty teas\, bubble teas\, espresso drinks and fresh baked goods; and  Planet Pizza serving scrumptious pizzas. \nAdmission and parking is free. Wristbands for unlimited rides will be sold for $25 each for the following time slots:  Friday:  6-10 p.m.; Saturday:  12-5 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.; and Sunday 12-5 p.m.. Individual ride tickets are also available. Members of the Rotary Club will be manning the ticket booth and assisting with wristbands. \n“This is a wonderful family-friendly event that’s fun for all ages. The rides are great and the games test your skill at winning prizes. We’ll have a lot of good food to offer\, plus it’s a terrific way to start off the school year\,” says Rotary Carnival chair Patrick Russo. “The carnival proceeds go back into the community to support needed projects as well as global humanitarian programs led by Rotary International. SUMMARY:Woodcock Nature Center - Under the Harvest Moon Benefit Event
DESCRIPTION:One of Woodcock Nature Center’s largest fundraisers\, Under the Harvest Moon on Friday\, Sept. 13\, at 7 p.m.\, welcomes 150 guests in its candlelit pavilion for an evening of great food\, good music\, silent and live auctions and great company. A highlight of the event is local as chef Sarah Bouissou of Sarah’s Wine Bar will prepare a generous farm-to-table tasting with produce from Horseshoe Farm\, Ambler Farm\, and The Hickories. Ridgefield’s No. 109 Cheese and Wine will provide a sampling of artisanal cheeses; wine will be provided by Cellar XV and beer will be served courtesy of  Nod Hill Brewery. \nThe evening includes a silent and live auction for a variety of popular items including unique Woodcock experiences such as catered dinners on our preserve from local chefs and a very popular VIP Wreath Festival package. All proceeds support Woodcock’s environmental education initiatives that connect people to the habitats\, plants\, and animals of this area to build awareness\, nurture understanding\, and advance conservation. \nTickets are $90 and may be purchased on the Woodcock Nature Center website beginning July 22.

This September\, New Canaan and Westport will be hosting Household HazWaste Collections that are open to Wilton residents. The dates and locations are as follows: \n\nSaturday\, Sept. 14\, 2019\, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.:  Wastewater Treatment Plant\, (394 Main St.\, New Canaan)\nSaturday\, Sept. 21\, 2019\, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.:  Yard Waste Site (180 Bayberry Ln.\, Westport)\n\nProof of Wilton residency (a driver’s license) is required to dispose of waste. These events are for the collection of household hazardous waste only. Paint and electronics will not be accepted. \nWilton’s Household HazWaste Collection day will be held on October 12\, 2019\, and will be the last opportunity of 2019 for Wilton residents to get rid of unwanted household hazardous waste. More details about Wilton’s event will be released in the coming weeks.

DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Rotary Club will again sponsor its traditional family carnival from Sept. 13-15 at the corner of School Rd. and Rte. 7. The event benefits the Wilton Rotary Club’s community improvement projects both locally and internationally. GOOD Morning Wilton is the media sponsor of the event. \nCarnival hours are:  Friday\, Sept. 13\, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday\, Sept. 14\, noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday\, Sept. 15\, noon-5 p.m.. Staged by Tufano Amusements\, the carnival will offer over 11 different rides for a variety of ages as well as multiple games of chance. Food options include Bubble and Brew serving specialty teas\, bubble teas\, espresso drinks and fresh baked goods; and  Planet Pizza serving scrumptious pizzas. \nAdmission and parking is free. Wristbands for unlimited rides will be sold for $25 each for the following time slots:  Friday:  6-10 p.m.; Saturday:  12-5 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.; and Sunday 12-5 p.m.. Individual ride tickets are also available. Members of the Rotary Club will be manning the ticket booth and assisting with wristbands. \n“This is a wonderful family-friendly event that’s fun for all ages. The rides are great and the games test your skill at winning prizes. We’ll have a lot of good food to offer\, plus it’s a terrific way to start off the school year\,” says Rotary Carnival chair Patrick Russo. “The carnival proceeds go back into the community to support needed projects as well as global humanitarian programs led by Rotary International. This documentary powerfully weaves the history of race relations in Charleston\, the significance and impact of Mother Emanuel Church\, and the hope that somehow emerges in the aftermath. \nThis is a stunning movie that came out for only two days this summer. \nThe Wilton Congregational Church will host a screening of the documentary and a discussion after. DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library’s industrious book sale volunteers are culling\, cleaning and categorizing all the items for the Awesome Autumn Book Sale fundraiser\, taking place Saturday\, Sept. 21 through Tuesday\, Sept. 24. \nEveryone is covered in this fundraiser–from tots to teens in the Brubeck Room with selections from board books and picture books to young adult novels; to a full Book Cellar featuring a large assortment of items including bestsellers\, fiction and nonfiction and categories such as histories\, biographies\, wellness\, cookbooks\, art and photography books\, religion\, sports\, travel\, and science fiction; gently used\, new\, collectible\, rare books\, CDs and DVDs. \nSaturday\, Sept. 21: \n\n9-10 a.m.:  Early buying\, with a $5 admission fee\n10 a.m.-5 p.m.:  free admission\n\nSunday\, Sept. 22:  1-5 p.m.\nMonday\, Sept. 23: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.\, all items half-price\nTuesday\, Sept. 24:  10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, $5 per bag \nEverything is new since the April book sale. All proceeds benefit the library.
