DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Teen Library Council (TLC) is a monthly group for youth in grades 6-12 who are interested in becoming more involved with the library. All Wilton teens are welcome. Benefits include: helping librarians choose teen materials\, brainstorming ideas for teen programs\, gaining experience working in a leadership role\, and helping the community through service projects. \nEach meeting will consist of a small group activity and discussion of upcoming events. The group will meet the second Tuesday of each month and participants are encouraged to attend all meetings. DESCRIPTION:The Board of Finance exercises oversight of the Town of Wilton’s finances. The primary function of the Board is to recommend a budget and a mill rate to the Annual Town Meeting. The Board also has the power to designate the external auditor and to approve supplemental appropriations upon the request of the Board of Selectmen or the Board of Education. The Board reviews bonding proposals prior to consideration by the Annual Town Meeting and the Connecticut General Statutes grant certain powers to the Board\, such as approving investments of Town funds. \nBy ordinance\, the Board appoints one trustee to each of the Retirement Plan for the Employees of the Town of Wilton\, the Trust Fund for Post-Employment Benefits\, and the Wilton Employees Retirement Plan Investment Committee. \nThe Board of Finance consists of six elected members and the terms of office of each member shall be four years and until a successor shall have taken office. \nMeeting agendas\, minutes\, Zoom links\, and more information can be found here. DESCRIPTION:Inland Wetlands Commission Regular Meeting is the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. \nThe Inland Wetlands Commission was established to conserve\, protect\, supervise\, and regulate the wetlands and watercourses within the Town of Wilton.  The Commission is comprised of seven members who serve in three year terms. \nThe Commission is responsible for administering the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Regulations for the Town. DESCRIPTION:The Board of Selectmen\, along with the Town Meeting\, is the legislative body of the Town. The Board consists of five members\, all of whom serve four year terms. The Board of Selectmen operates under the principles of civility\, respect\, and understanding. In February 2017\, the Board of Selectmen adopted a proclamation to state its principles and encourage all residents to share those principles. \nThe Selectmen are responsible for town government activities including carrying out town policies\, town ordinances\, and administrative and budgetary management of the Town. DESCRIPTION:The Planning and Zoning Commission is a nine-member elected body responsible for overseeing land use and development activity within Wilton. Key responsibilities of the commission are reviewing zoning regulation amendment applications\, changes to the Town’s zoning map\, and applications involving the subdivision of land\, and evaluating mandatory referrals from the Board of Selectmen. Additionally\, the commission oversees long-range planning initiatives\, including the preparation of the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. \nPlanning and Zoning Commission Regular Meetings typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of the month\, from 7-9 p.m. \nMeetings can be attended by the public via the Zoom link. \nMembers of the public can submit written comments and questions via email to Land Use Director/Town Planner Michael Wrinn by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting\, or members of the public can comment on Zoom at the appropriate time by raising a hand to notify the host of the intent to provide comments. Public participants will be promoted one at a time to provide comments live on Zoom.

The interactive displays and model holiday village are perfect holiday fun for all ages. Whether a model train builder or collector\, young wannabe train conductors\, or a family looking for a delightful seasonal experience\, the Great Trains Holiday Show has something for everyone. \nModel train gauges include G\, HO\, and O. \nThe Great Holiday Train Show will run Friday\, Nov. 29 through Monday\, Jan. 20\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Assistive Technology (AT) encompasses many possibilities when you look beyond AAC/communication. Wilton Library hosts Alescia Ford\, MS\, OTR/L\, ATP\, while she breaks down the three critical components of educational design: Universal Design for Learning\, Educational Technology\, and Assistive Technology. She discusses assistive technologies to enable participation\, improve curricular access (math\, reading\, writing\, executive functioning)\, and support inclusion. She also explains what AT looks like (from low-tech\, mid-tech\, to high-tech)\, when more is needed (consultation and evaluations)\, how to include AT in the IEP\, and why implementation planning is so important. \nFord is a certified occupational therapist and a nationally certified assistive technology practitioner. She evaluates students’ needs for AT; trains students\, educators\, and parents on implementation plans; develops district-wide competencies for AT processes; and consults on literacy support programming\, accessibility and Universal Design for Learning guiding principles. She owns Adapt & Learn\, a pediatric therapy service provider with clinic locations in Simsbury and Farmington. \nRegister for this free\, in-person presentation. \n
