DESCRIPTION:The Wilton High School Music Boosters is holding its next monthly Can and Bottle Drive on Sunday\, Oct. 5 from 1-4 p.m. \nDonate your redeemable cans and bottles to the Wilton High School Band in the WHS Board of Education parking lot by the Catalpa Rd. entrance\, where student volunteers will receive and sort your recyclables. We accept plastic/aluminum cans and bottles labeled CT or CTRV\, as well as glass bottles (please check online if you are unsure). \nWe’d love to have support from Wilton businesses! Please reach out via email if you are interested in helping monthly by collecting the recyclables used by the clients and employees at your location for pickup by a volunteer before the drive. \nThank you so much for supporting the Wilton High School music program! Millions of birds journey south this time of year to their wintering grounds\, some here in Connecticut\, some as far away as the pampas grasslands of South America. Bear will lead us on a leisurely two-hour walk through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer — open fields/meadow\, woodland edges\, the community gardens which are often teaming with migrants\, and the new native pollinator meadow. Fall sightings in recent years have included bobolinks\, dickcissels\, indigo buntings\, a variety of warblers\, orioles\, flycatchers\, sparrows\, as well as several species of soaring raptors including bald eagle. \n\nRegister online. \nThe event is drizzle or shine. Bring binoculars and park in front of the “Field 6” sign.

From mourning clothing and jewelry to expectations placed on widows and children\, these customs reflected both personal sorrow and wider cultural values. Drawing on both scholarly research and hands-on experience with period attire\, this lecture will provide insight into how Victorians approached death and remembrance\, offering a clearer understanding of daily life\, social expectations\, and the ways mourning helped define an era.
