The hike starts and ends at the Nick Parisot Memorial Trail Head kiosk located at 77 Tito Lane\, and delicately meanders through existing open spaces in north Wilton. \nThe Nick Parisot Memorial Trail reinforces community connections\, offers visitors sanctuary\, and a respite from their busy lives\, and is a living monument to remind its travelers of Nick Parisot. \nThe Wilton Land Conservation Trust and the Woodcock Nature Center are working together to enrich the Wilton community. Together\, they have created a unique opportunity for participants to learn about Wilton’s environment while walking through it with staff naturalists. As partners\, they are providing opportunities for families to get out and explore the outdoors. \nCOVID: Masks outside are optional\, please be mindful of distance from others.

Mark Rubinstein is a physician\, psychiatrist\, and mystery and thriller writer\, and he interviewed forty-seven authors\, including Lee Child\, Michael Connelly\, and Ken Follett. \nThe discussion will be moderated by writer/filmmaker Megan Smith-Harris\, founder and Executive Director of the Fairfield Film Festival. \nOnline registration is required. DESCRIPTION:The Board of Finance exercises oversight of the Town of Wilton’s finances. The primary function of the Board of Finance is to recommend a budget and a mill rate to the Annual Town Meeting. The Board also has the power to designate the external auditor and to approve supplemental appropriations upon the request of the Board of Selectmen or the Board of Education. It’s crucial that parents keep in touch with their own physical\, mental and emotional pulse so they can provide the nurturing structure and guidance their children need. \non Thursday\, Oct. 14\, 9:30- 10:30 am\, School psychologist David P. Sylvestro\, MA\, CSP\, will discuss ways parents can keep themselves “steady and ready”— making sure their oxygen masks are properly on— by knowing how to recognize when their own stress levels may be interfering with their parenting goals and what to do when that happens. \nDave facilitates individual and group counseling sessions\, parent support groups\, and Dads-Only groups\, provides training and staff development to professionals\, and presents at LD conferences worldwide. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will be hosting weekly drive-through flu vaccine clinics at its Wilton offices on Thursday afternoons\, from Sept. 30 through Nov. 11\, 2-4:30 p.m. \nFlu vaccines are available for individuals over the age of 4 years. Younger children should be taken to a pediatrician for a vaccination. \nThe cost of a flu vaccine is $55. A high-dose vaccine is available for anyone over age 65 and the cost is $75. Visiting Nurse will bill directly to Medicare Part B\, Aetna\, Anthem\, Connecticare or Harvard Pilgrim. \nPeople wishing to register for a vaccine through the drive-through clinic should know the following: \n\nVisit the Visiting Nurse website to download\, print and complete a Consent/Registration Form and bring it to the flu clinic.\nThese are drive-through flu clinics only. Patients must remain in their vehicles at all times.\nMasks must be worn at all times.\nNo pets in the car\nWear short sleeves or sleeves that can be easily rolled up. DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Conservation Commission will be sponsoring Wilton’s annual HazWaste Collection Day on Saturday\, October 16\, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miller-Driscoll School Parking Lot (217 Wolfpit Road). This event enables Wilton residents to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste by bringing it to the collection where a certified hazardous waste contractor will provide appropriate and responsible disposal of the unwanted products. \nNearly all households contain some household hazardous waste (HHW). HHW is generally defined as a household waste that is corrosive (such as acids and alkalis)\, flammable\, reactive\, or toxic (poisonous). Common HHW includes paint thinners\, pool chemicals\, pesticides\, mercury thermometers\, and gasoline. When these products are no longer wanted or needed\, they become hazardous waste and must be disposed of responsibly and safely so that they do not lead to personal injury and do not enter the food chain or contaminate drinking water supplies. Household hazardous waste collection programs provide an opportunity to manage these wastes in an environmentally safe manner. For information on what items can and cannot be accepted\, please visit here. \nThe collection is open to all Wilton residents\, as well as residents of Norwalk\, Darien\, Greenwich\, Stamford\, Weston\, and Westport. DESCRIPTION:The Great Wilton Pumpkin Fest will take place on Saturday\, October 16\, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Find a bountiful harvest of all kinds of fall fun with a focus on\, of course\, pumpkins! Watch a blacksmith hard at work at the forge; see docents in Colonial dress hearth cooking with pumpkins\, weaving and flax breaking\, munch a donut\, and sip some cider. \nThere will be lots of things for kids to do – pumpkin decorating\, lawn games such as “Ring Toss with Pumpkins” and “Corn Hole” – and a version of bocce using pumpkins and gourds. The grounds of the Historical Society will be strewn with pumpkins and gourds being sold by Wilton Kiwanis along with mums and corn. \nBe sure to register for the “History is Here Wilton Scavenger Hunt” at the sign-up table. Whether you are brand new to town or a resident for 30 years\, you will be amazed at what you don’t know about Wilton’s history.
