DESCRIPTION:The Planning and Zoning Commission is a nine-member elected body responsible for overseeing land use and development activity within Wilton. Key responsibilities of the commission are reviewing zoning regulation amendment applications\, changes to the Town’s zoning map\, and applications involving the subdivision of land\, and evaluating mandatory referrals from the Board of Selectmen. Additionally\, the commission oversees long-range planning initiatives\, including the preparation of the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. \nPlanning and Zoning Commission Regular Meetings typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of the month\, from 7-9 p.m. \nMeetings can be attended by the public via the Zoom link. \nMembers of the public can submit written comments and questions via email to Land Use Director/Town Planner Michael Wrinn by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting\, or members of the public can comment on Zoom at the appropriate time by raising a hand to notify the host of the intent to provide comments. Public participants will be promoted one at a time to provide comments live on Zoom.

The interactive displays and model holiday village are perfect holiday fun for all ages. Whether a model train builder or collector\, young wannabe train conductors\, or a family looking for a delightful seasonal experience\, the Great Trains Holiday Show has something for everyone. \nModel train gauges include G\, HO\, and O. \nThe Great Holiday Train Show will run Friday\, Nov. 29 through Monday\, Jan. 20\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Assistive Technology (AT) encompasses many possibilities when you look beyond AAC/communication. Wilton Library hosts Alescia Ford\, MS\, OTR/L\, ATP\, while she breaks down the three critical components of educational design: Universal Design for Learning\, Educational Technology\, and Assistive Technology. She discusses assistive technologies to enable participation\, improve curricular access (math\, reading\, writing\, executive functioning)\, and support inclusion. She also explains what AT looks like (from low-tech\, mid-tech\, to high-tech)\, when more is needed (consultation and evaluations)\, how to include AT in the IEP\, and why implementation planning is so important. \nFord is a certified occupational therapist and a nationally certified assistive technology practitioner. She evaluates students’ needs for AT; trains students\, educators\, and parents on implementation plans; develops district-wide competencies for AT processes; and consults on literacy support programming\, accessibility and Universal Design for Learning guiding principles. She owns Adapt & Learn\, a pediatric therapy service provider with clinic locations in Simsbury and Farmington. \nRegister for this free\, in-person presentation. \n

DESCRIPTION:Wilton will enjoy the annual Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll on Friday\, Dec. 6. Together with event sponsor Kimco Realty and in partnership with the Town of Wilton\, Wilton Fire Department\, Wilton Volunteers Ambulance Corps\, and several retailers and businesses in the Town Center\, the whole community is invited to join the festivities beginning at 5 p.m.\n\n \n\n5-8 p.m. — Carolers\, crafts and toy drive: Participants can get in the holiday spirit and make their way to the Town Green to be enchanted by the strolling carolers from the Voice Studio singing holiday classics. Families can enjoy crafts and treats provided by Wilton non-profit organizations\, and meet a special “ELF” strolling through the Town Green. In addition\, the Wilton Police Department will be collecting toys for children in need.\n\n \n\n5:30-7 p.m. — Wilton Library welcomes visitors: Wilton Library staff will welcome visitors outside the library’s front entrance\, handing out special gift bags with sweet treats\, while supplies last. Children can stop by the Children’s Library to make a special bookmark to take home with their books\, and teens are welcome to visit the Teen Room to make pompom bookmarks. Library officials invite all visitors to shop for gifts and stocking stuffers at the Holiday Book Sale in the gallery.\n\n \n\n5:45 p.m. — Tree lighting and Santa: Wilton will officially kick off the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa ushered in by the Wilton Fire Department’s Ladder Truck 5. Children of all ages will be able to visit Santa at the gazebo where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat starting at 6 p.m.\n\n \n\n5-8 p.m. — Stroll\, shop and support Wilton’s local businesses: Celebrate the magic of the holidays and join in the festivities with Wilton retailers\, restaurants and local businesses. The Chamber encourages the community to stroll through town\, visit\, shop and enjoy the generous hospitality of participating local businesses that evening!\n\n5-8 p.m. — Marshmallow Roast: The Kiwanis Club of Wilton will once again host the marshmallow roast for the Holiday Stroll! With the fire ban lifted in the State\, this family activity returns to keep guests warm and cozy. Visit the Kiwanians at the corner of River Rd. and the entrance to Schenck’s Island.

DESCRIPTION:The Planning and Zoning Commission is a nine-member elected body responsible for overseeing land use and development activity within Wilton. Key responsibilities of the commission are reviewing zoning regulation amendment applications\, changes to the Town’s zoning map\, and applications involving the subdivision of land\, and evaluating mandatory referrals from the Board of Selectmen. Additionally\, the commission oversees long-range planning initiatives\, including the preparation of the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. \nPlanning and Zoning Commission Regular Meetings typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of the month\, from 7-9 p.m. \nMeetings can be attended by the public via the Zoom link. \nMembers of the public can submit written comments and questions via email to Land Use Director/Town Planner Michael Wrinn by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting\, or members of the public can comment on Zoom at the appropriate time by raising a hand to notify the host of the intent to provide comments. Public participants will be promoted one at a time to provide comments live on Zoom.

DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Teen Library Council (TLC) is a monthly group for youth in grades 6-12 who are interested in becoming more involved with the library. All Wilton teens are welcome. Benefits include: helping librarians choose teen materials\, brainstorming ideas for teen programs\, gaining experience working in a leadership role\, and helping the community through service projects. \nEach meeting will consist of a small group activity and discussion of upcoming events. The group will meet the second Tuesday of each month and participants are encouraged to attend all meetings. Registration is optional\, but participants are encouraged to submit a TLC application before the first meeting. \nRegister on the Wilton Library’s website. SUMMARY:Board of Finance Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Board of Finance exercises oversight of the Town of Wilton’s finances. The primary function of the Board is to recommend a budget and a mill rate to the Annual Town Meeting. The Board also has the power to designate the external auditor and to approve supplemental appropriations upon the request of the Board of Selectmen or the Board of Education. The Board reviews bonding proposals prior to consideration by the Annual Town Meeting and the Connecticut General Statutes grant certain powers to the Board\, such as approving investments of Town funds. \nBy ordinance\, the Board appoints one trustee to each of the Retirement Plan for the Employees of the Town of Wilton\, the Trust Fund for Post-Employment Benefits\, and the Wilton Employees Retirement Plan Investment Committee. \nThe Board of Finance consists of six elected members and the terms of office of each member shall be four years and until a successor shall have taken office. \nMeeting agendas\, minutes\, Zoom links\, and more information can be found here. DESCRIPTION:Inland Wetlands Commission Regular Meeting is the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. \nThe Inland Wetlands Commission was established to conserve\, protect\, supervise\, and regulate the wetlands and watercourses within the Town of Wilton.  The Commission is comprised of seven members who serve in three year terms. \nThe Commission is responsible for administering the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Regulations for the Town. The Board consists of five members\, all of whom serve four year terms. The Board of Selectmen operates under the principles of civility\, respect\, and understanding. In February 2017\, the Board of Selectmen adopted a proclamation to state its principles and encourage all residents to share those principles. \nThe Selectmen are responsible for town government activities including carrying out town policies\, town ordinances\, and administrative and budgetary management of the Town. The Selectmen are not responsible for Wilton Public Schools. Currently serving on the Board of Selectmen are: Toni Boucher (First Selectman)\, Joshua S. Cole (Second Selectman)\, Kimberley Healy\, Basam Nabulsi\, and Ross H. Tartell. \nBoard of Selectmen meetings are generally held on the first Monday and third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.  The public is invited to attend and comment at these open session meetings. \nMeeting agendas\, minutes\, and Zoom links can be found here. \n
