This program celebrates the lyrical intimacy and rich harmonic language of French music from the late Romantic to early 20th century. César Franck’s radiant Sonata in A major anchors the program with its sweeping emotional arc and cyclical design\, a hallmark of French Romanticism. Nadia Boulanger’s Three Pieces for Cello and Piano offer a more introspective voice of poetic miniatures that reveal delicate shades of color and quiet nuance. Camille Saint-Saëns’s beloved The Swan and Gabriel Fauré’s graceful Sicilienne complement these works with their elegance\, warmth\, and timeless melodic charm. Together\, these pieces trace a lineage of French expressivity—refined\, nostalgic\, and deeply human. \nPraised for her “mesmerizing” interpretation of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante\, where she “surmounted all of its technical challenges with ease and gave us a joyous musical experience” (Julian Lloyd Webber\, solo cellist)\, Sydney Lee captivates audiences with her refined elegance\, expressive depth\, and radiant sincerity. A rising force in the classical music world\, Sydney was awarded First Prize at the 2022 Washington International Competition\, Second Prize at the Classic Strings International Competition\, and became the inaugural recipient of Meadowmount School of Music’s prestigious $50\,000 Gurrena Fellowship. Since making her solo debut at age thirteen with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra\, Sydney has performed across North America and Europe in such renowned venues as Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and Terrace Theater\, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center\, Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium\, and the Konzerthaus Berlin. \nCollaborating with Sydney on this concert is Music for Youth Emerging Artist\, Serena Li. SUMMARY:Architectural Review Board/Village District Design Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The combined Architectural Review Board (ARB) and the Village District Design Advisory Committee (VDDAC) is charged with providing expert architectural guidance to applicants and design recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission in the review of certain commercial and non-commercial development applications.  Consisting of five members\, the entity functions as a combined panel that serves in two distinct capacities depending on the nature and location of the proposal.  The panel serves in an advisory capacity only. The public can attend these open meetings via Zoom. \nRegular meetings of the Architectural Review Board /Village District Design Advisory Committee are held on the first Thursday of each month\, unless otherwise scheduled due to holiday. \nWhen functioning as the VDDAC\, the panel reviews development proposals that are situated in geographic locations known as “Village Districts\,” which are neighborhoods of distinctive character\, unifying architectural interest\, and/or historic value; and\, at present\, include Wilton Center and commercially-zoned sections of Cannondale. Review authority extends to new construction\, substantial reconstruction and rehabilitation of properties; including but not limited to\, the design and placement of buildings\, the maintenance of public views\, the design\, paving materials and placement of public roadways\, signage and other elements that maintain and protect the unique character of the designated village districts. \nServing as the Town’s ARB\, the panel is responsible for the review of special permit and site plan applications involving new construction\, significant site and exterior and/or facade alterations for properties that are not part of a designated village district. \nThe VDDAC/ARB’s overarching mission is to work with applicants in a constructive and collaborative manner so as to foster successful design outcomes that are appropriate to and representative of Wilton’s unique character.  Refer to the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Wilton for further detail and guidance.

DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library’s February art exhibition\, “Western Stars” will showcase the works of Redding resident Robert Mars. In this new body of work\, Mars explores the intersection of myth and memory\, drawing connections between classic Western films and the glowing iconography of vintage neon signs\, both of which shaped the mythology of the American West by transforming history into enduring symbols of freedom\, danger\, and rugged individualism. Mars pairs cinematic drama with luminous roadside Americana to examine how these myths persist in cultural memory\, flickering between fact and fantasy\, darkness and light. \nThe “Western Stars” opening reception on Friday\, Feb. 6\, from 6-7:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through Friday\, Feb. 27. A majority of the works will be available for purchase\, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.

DESCRIPTION:Wilton Library’s February art exhibition\, “Western Stars\,” will showcase the works of Redding resident Robert Mars. In this new body of work\, Mars explores the intersection of myth and memory\, drawing connections between classic Western films and the glowing iconography of vintage neon signs\, both of which shaped the mythology of the American West by transforming history into enduring symbols of freedom\, danger\, and rugged individualism. Mars pairs cinematic drama with luminous roadside Americana to examine how these myths persist in cultural memory\, flickering between fact and fantasy\, darkness and light. \nThe “Western Stars” opening reception on Friday\, Feb. 6\, from 6-7:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through Friday\, Feb. 27. A majority of the works will be available for purchase\, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.
