SUMMARY:Spring Migration Birding at Allen's Meadow and its Community Gardens\, with Joe Bear
DESCRIPTION:Join the Norwalk River Watershed Association for this series of free spring migration bird walks led by expert birder\, conservationist\, master gardener\, and Wilton resident Joe Bear. Bear will lead everyone on a leisurely 2-hour walk from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. through the diverse habitats this well-known birding hot spot has to offer – open fields\, woods\, woodland edges\, pond\, and swamp – to seek out returning summer residents\, those on their way to northern breeding grounds\, and maybe a vagrant or two. Previous spring walks have yielded a wide variety of species\, including both Orchard and Baltimore Orioles\, Bobolink\, Indigo Bunting\, Scarlet Tanager\, Eastern Kingbird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Flycatchers\, Vireos\, and a variety of colorful Warblers.  You’ll get a chance to see up close Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows vying for one of the 12 nest boxes erected by Bear in and around the Little Bluestem meadow.  Bear will also talk about the new native pollinator meadow he’s been working on since 2021.\n\nPlease register using the attached link\, and park in front of the Field 6 sign at Allen’s Meadows\n\nThis event takes place:\nWed.
