SUMMARY:Call for Entries in FOCUS ‘23
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Arts Council is seeking photographers of all ages\, including youths and high school students\, to enter its 23rd annual photography exhibit\, “FOCUS ’23\,” to be held from March 11 – 31\, at the Wilton Library. Photographers may enter up to two of their photos\, which may be film or digital images in color or black and white and may be enhanced by darkroom or digital techniques.  \nFOCUS ’23 entries will be judged by a panel of notable area photographers in three divisions: Adult (professional and amateur combined)\, High School Student (grades 9 – 12)\, and Youth photographers (pre-elementary through 8th grade). Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded for: Best of Show (which is open to all)\, first through fifth places in the adult division\, and first\, second and third place in each of the high school and youth divisions. Ribbons will also be presented for honorable mention in each of the divisions. \nFOCUS ’23 committee members will be on hand at the Wilton Library on Saturday\, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday\, March 5 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to receive entries. \nPlease see the Wilton Arts Council website for rules\, entry form and entry fee information.

SUMMARY:Call for Entries in FOCUS ‘23
DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Arts Council is seeking photographers of all ages\, including youths and high school students\, to enter its 23rd annual photography exhibit\, “FOCUS ’23\,” to be held from March 11 – 31\, at the Wilton Library. Photographers may enter up to two of their photos\, which may be film or digital images in color or black and white and may be enhanced by darkroom or digital techniques.  \nFOCUS ’23 entries will be judged by a panel of notable area photographers in three divisions: Adult (professional and amateur combined)\, High School Student (grades 9 – 12)\, and Youth photographers (pre-elementary through 8th grade). Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded for: Best of Show (which is open to all)\, first through fifth places in the adult division\, and first\, second and third place in each of the high school and youth divisions. Ribbons will also be presented for honorable mention in each of the divisions. \nFOCUS ’23 committee members will be on hand at the Wilton Library on Saturday\, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday\, March 5 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to receive entries. \nPlease see the Wilton Arts Council website for rules\, entry form and entry fee information.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day at Wilton Library by making a beautiful terrarium in the library’s courtyard (weather permitting). DESCRIPTION:Join Wilton Library in learning about some of the early works of David Hockney. The expanded galleries of the Bruce Museum’s William L. Richter Art Wing have allowed Dr. Margarita Karasoulas\, the Bruce’s Curator of Art\, the space to explore the life and career of this prolific and innovative pop artist. Hockney/Origins: Early Works from the Roy B. and Edith J. Simpson Collection contains works created by Hockney from the 1960s to the 1980s\, pivotal years in his career. These pieces illustrate Hockney’s ability and fluidity in a myriad of mediums and his wit\, humor\, and tenderness as a friend and artist. \nCorinne Flax is a museum educator\, arts enthusiast\, and community educator. She studied Art History at Drew University\, receiving her B.A. in 2003 and her M.A. from Bank Street in Museum Education in 2008. Those thoughts will be shared as part of the exhibit\, and the community is invited to think about their queries when viewing the works. \nThese pieces represent a wide variety of styles\, media\, and subject matter. The artists are: 5iveFingaz (Norwalk)\, Tara Blackwell (Stamford)\, Lauren Clayton (Stamford)\, Dooley-O (New Haven)\, Alejandra Gonzalez Zertuche (Norwalk)\, Thalia Hernandez (Bridgeport)\, Jahmane (Norwalk)\, Lily Morgan (Stamford)\, and Sain’t Phifer (Norwalk). \nIn addition\, “Disruptive Narratives: Teen Edition” celebrates the transformative power of youth creativity. It offers a platform for the bold and fearless expressions of a new generation of artists. Join in embracing the rebellious spirit of these emerging voices as they redefine the boundaries of contemporary discourse and offer a fresh\, critical lens on the ordinary. Each teen artist has also contributed to a curated selection of books that resonate with their work and provide deeper insight into the themes of the exhibit. \nThe emerging teen artists are: Clara Eliot (Weston)\, Freya Goldenberg (New Canaan)\, Olive Goldenberg (New Canaan)\, and Lila Malone (Stamford). \nOpening reception on Friday\, June 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. Exhibition runs through July 1. A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.
