DESCRIPTION:More than a century ago\, nearly four billion American chestnut trees were growing in the eastern U.S. However\, the tree is now considered extinct in the wild. Join The American Chestnut Foundation\, Wilton Land Conservation Trust\, and Ring’s End on Saturday\, May 22\, 2021 (rain date Sunday\, May 23\, 2021) as we work to help save the American chestnut trees by planting an orchard to help restore the species. \nEvent Details: \n12:45 – 1:00 PM: Arrive and get settled\n1:00 – 1:30 PM: Opening Speeches from WLCT and ACF\n1:30 – 4:00 PM: Plant the chestnut trees and install deer exclosure fencing \nRegister here. Due to limited parking\, this event is restricted to 10 cars (first 10 registrants); please carpool. Information about parking will come in a separate email closer to the date. When arriving\, please be careful when pulling into the 183 Ridgefield Road’s driveway. Once on the property\, you will be visited by WLCT staff\, who will show you where to park. Please leave your furry friends at home.

Together\, with the American Chestnut Foundation and our wonderful community\, we’re expanding our Germplasm Conservation Orchard to help save the American Chestnut Tree. With your help\, we will plant and cage 20 trees\, bringing the total to 80! \nEvent Details:  Sunday\, May 19\, at 1 p.m. at Chestnut Meadows Preserve (183 Ridgefield Rd.) (Rain date is Sunday\, June 2) \nItinerary: \n\n1-1:15 p.m.: arrive and get settled\n1:15-1:30 p.m.: Opening speeches from WLT and ACF\n1:30-4:30: Plant the chestnut trees and install deer exclosure fencing\n\nParking:  Please come early and carpool.
