SUMMARY:Circle of Care 2018 Gala: Duende
DESCRIPTION:Duende:  Passion.Courage.Inspiration \nJoin us for a very special evening supporting children in treatment for cancer in our community. \nOur Gala theme\, Duende\, comes from a Spanish term that defies literal translation. The term is traditionally used in flamenco music or other art forms to refer to the mystical or powerful force within. Duende “is a power and not a behavior . . . a struggle and not a concept.” The brave children we serve all have a certain duende and so do those who help them on their journey. \nWe invite you to celebrate their boundless spirit on this special night. \nOur “Duende” Gala will be a festive evening of dinner\, live music and entertainment to celebrate these families and the friends\, volunteers and generous donors who support our Circle of Care families. \nTickets start at $275. Sponsorships\, silent and live auction donations are still being accepted.

SUMMARY:Third Annual Sip-and-Shop Benefit for Circle of Care
DESCRIPTION:The third annual Sip and Shop will take place on Thursday\, Nov. 29\, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.. Local merchants and vendors will be selling an eclectic mix of holiday and gift items with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting Circle of Care\, a Wilton-based pediatric cancer charity. Complimentary food and beverages will be offered. \nThe event will be held at a new location\, Wilton Congregational Church\, Pilgrim Hall\, 70 Ridgefield Rd. in Wilton\, after last year’s event\, held at Wilton’s Old Town Hall\, overflowed with sip and shoppers\, so the sponsor and organizer\, Let’s Make Up owner Janet Montalbano\, realized this year’s event must be held at a larger space. \nLiz Salguero\, president and founder of Circle of Care\, is thrilled at the growing success of Sip and Shop. “Janet started by having a small event in a friend’s house. Invitation was by word of mouth and it raised over $4\,000. The second year it more than doubled\, raising over $11\,000 dollars for Circle of Care. Vendors and shoppers came from throughout Fairfield County and Westchester. We can’t thank her enough for her efforts on our behalf.” Janet’s goal for this year’s event is to raise over $20\,000. \nAnd to encourage even more shoppers to attend\, the 2018 SIP AND SHOP will be a “happening\,” not just an event. Delicious food bites will be provided by the popular Wilton-based organic gourmet store\, The Well\, and renowned Susan Kane Catering. Wilton-based Bubble and Brew will donate delectable desserts for the event. And gorgeous arrangements of flowers are courtesy of Tori Santos of Fleurish Flower Shop. While festively shopping\, customers can relax to the soulful sounds of singer/songwriter/pianist Gabrielle Cacciola\, and later in the afternoon and evening they can enjoy the fabulous vibrations of the Ridgefield-based band Code Red. Readings will be given by Fairfield County psychic Lize Marinelli. And\, for those who want lasting memories of the Sip and Shop experience\, expert photographer Justin Baiad will be available to take photographs in his private photo booth. To alleviate the holiday stress\, therapist Dana Michie will offer an Emotion Code Therapy experience. Emotion Code Therapy gives people the tools to release their pent up negative emotions\, which helps cure them of physical ailments\, increasing their sense of well-being. \nMany popular vendors are returning this year\, with exciting new ones joining (see list below). Raffle and auction items include gift certificates from local merchants\, eclectic holiday items\, and a one week trip to the exquisite Caribbean Island of Anguilla\, among others. \nCircle of Care is a Wilton-based organization that supports children with cancer and their families by providing direct practical\, emotional and financial support from diagnosis to pre and post treatment. They provide guidance and inspiration to familes whose children have cancer. SUMMARY:An Evening with Mitch Albom to Benefit Circle of Care
DESCRIPTION:Join the Circle of Care for an intimate conversation with NY Times best selling author Mitch Albom\, about his latest book\, Finding Chika. It will be an inspirational evening filled with funny and tender anecdotes and moving photos and video from his time with the amazing Chika and the story about a little girl\, an earthquake and the making of a family. \nThe author of Tuesdays With Morrie returns to nonfiction to celebrate Chika\, a young Haitian orphan who forever changed his heart. Through the operation of the Have Faith Haiti Orphanage in Port Au Prince and in reaction to the 2010 earthquake devastation\, Albom met his daughter\, Chika. The young orphan had developed a life-threatening brain tumor and with no doctors in Haiti able to help her\, Albom brought Chika to America. The story follows their two-year\, around-the-world journey to find a cure for an inoperable brain tumor. Told in hindsight\, and through conversations with Chika herself\, this is Albom at his most poignant and vulnerable. He creates a beautiful portrait of what it means to be a family\, regardless of how it is made. “This is the hardest yet most important book I have written or may ever write\,” says Albom. \nHosting the event is a Connecticut based organization dedicated to the same advocacy Albom addresses in Chika. Circle of Care is a non-profit supporting the journey families of children with cancer face. To support Circle of Care and their shared mission to help children and families with cancer\, Albom has waived his speaking fee for the Jan. 30 event. \nMitch Albom is a bestselling author\, screenwriter\, playwright and nationally syndicated columnist. Tuesdays with Morrie\, which spent four straight years atop The New York Times list\, is now the bestselling memoir of all time. Albom has founded nine charities in Detroit\, including the first-ever 24-hour medical clinic for homeless children in America. He also continues to operate and visit monthly the Have Faith Haiti Orphanage. \nJoin Circle of Care and its intimate conversation with Mitch Albom as he reflects on his life-changing experience with Chika through anecdotes\, photos\, and videos. The event will last between 45 minutes to an hour. Tickets can be found at the Circle of Care website and Mitch Albom’s website. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Sip N’ Shop Celebrates 5th Year in COVID Style–Online!
DESCRIPTION:Neither rain\, sleet\, nor COVID-19 will prevent Janet Montalbano of Let’s Make Up from hosting her 5th annual Sip N’ Shop charity event to benefit Circle of Care\, a non-profit organization that offers programs and services to support children with cancer and their families. \nJustin Baiad of Justin Baiad Photography\, and Liza Mariani\, Life Coach and Tarot Card Reader\, will be the co-hosts this year. Baiad is the photographer of choice for numerous Fairfield County charity events and Mariani is well-known for her abilities to connect with and inspire people. Baiad will donate 50% and Mariani will donate 100% of their December proceeds to Circle of Care. \nThis year’s event will be quite different due to restrictions placed on social gatherings. The event will be held online\, beginning Sunday\, Dec. 6\, and ending Thursday\, Dec. 31. There will be a variety of vendors\, such as a mobile massage therapist\, an expert stonemason\, boutique gift merchants\, and Dave’s Planet Pizza who will be donating a portion of all meals ordered to Circle of Care. The event resonates with everyone because it involves small businesses supporting other small businesses\, while also benefitting a fantastic local charity. With everyone suffering now in so many ways\, this event will bring joy and satisfaction to everyone who participates\, vendors and customers alike. \nMontalbano’s goal this year is to raise $25\,000. Her Sip N’ Shop events have raised over $100\,000 to benefit Circle of Care. “During this time when so many of us are isolated and depressed\, I hope this event will brighten everyone’s day. I am so proud of Sip N’ Shop’s success and thankful for the support of the community that made this happen. I know we can do it again\,” she said. \nThis year there will be Platinum and Gold Sponsorships available for $1\,000 and $300 donations\, respectively. In addition\, sponsors and donors who give $200 or more to Circle of Care (mentioning Sip ‘N Shop when donating) will have their names placed in a drawing for over $2\,500 worth of prizes. Prizes include a weekend getaway\, bicycle\, make-up session and more. In addition\, sponsors will have their ads placed daily on the Facebook page and can choose one ad to remain on the Sip ‘n Shop Facebook page for the year. \nSo Sip N’ Shop from your favorite chair this year and buy well to do good.

SUMMARY:Sip & Shop 6th Annual In-Person Event to Benefit Circle of Care
DESCRIPTION:Sip & Shop\, the annual shopping fundraiser held to benefit Circle of Care\, is returning to Wilton as an in-person event at a larger venue than before\, the WEPCO church complex at 48 New Canaan Rd. The event will be held on Thursday\, Nov. 18\, from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Once again\, 100% of event proceeds will be donated to support children with cancer and their families. \nOrganized yearly by Wilton stylist and makeup artist Janet Montalbano of Let’s Make Up\, the 2021 Sip & Shop\, will charge an admission fee of $20 per person since this year’s goal is to raise over $25\,000 for Circle of Care. Last year’s online event raised $15\,000\, so Montalbano is hopeful that an in-person event will raise substantially more. \nEach visitor to Sip & Shop will receive a complimentary raffle ticket\, making them eligible for an assortment of prizes. In addition\, there will be a $100 raffle for a chance to win a fantastic vacation at Lake Norman in North Carolina\, one of the largest and most beautiful man-made lakes in the state\, donated by a Wilton family (restrictions apply). There will also be a 50-50 raffle\, ($20 for one ticket or $50 for three). The drawing will be held at 7:30 p.m. \nMontalbano has brought on a co-host this year\, Justin Baiad\, of Justin Baiad Photography. Other event sponsors include: Silver — Wilton Smiles\, AJC Contracting\, Berkshire Hathaway\, and Fleurish Florals; Gold — Keller Williams Fiona Porter; and Platinum — Mary Aherns Hair for Good. The band Cagi & Syd will perform well-known tunes\, and light bites and beverages will be provided by Rye Ridge Deli\, Uncle Leo’s\, Dave’s Planet Pizza and Susan Kane Catering. \nThe vendors at the event include: “B” Chic\, Blue Star Bazaar\, Burkewood Road\, Emmy Star Designs\, Erin Deluca Jewelry\, Four Colors USA\, Fiona Porter Homes\, Bows By Ria\, Thread & Knot\, Four Legged and Fabulous\, Frieda Rothman\, Hair For Good\, Imaginariums\, Nancy’s Color Studio\, Nina Kalola Jewelry\, Send a Smile Cards and Gifts\, Szetheday\, Southern Yankee\, Wild Bloom Skin Care\, Wilton Smiles\, Arbonne\, Nayar’s Gifts\, Tiffany Catalano Artwork\, Your CBD Store\, and Zero Waste. \n“I am confident we will reach our goal this year with so many positive changes\, particularly with the addition of my talented co-sponsor\, Justin. And I know everyone wants to support our local vendors who support Circle of Care by coming to our event and donating funds for a booth to showcase their wares. There is no better way to shop for holiday gifts\,” Montalbano said. \nTickets are available through Eventbrite online.
