DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wilton Library for this interesting talk on bears in Connecticut. \nFelicia Ortner\, a Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist (MWC) and a bear enthusiast\, will provide education and facts about bears and help dispel myths and common misunderstandings. Accumulated data supports the black bear is seldom aggressive toward humans. \nAppropriate for all ages. \nFelicia has been studying about bears for over 35 years. In the mid 1990’s Felicia turned her passion for learning about bears into a passion for teaching about them. In 2008 Felicia developed a presentation for bear education programs she presents on a volunteer basis. DESCRIPTION:The Wilton Land Trust and theTurtleRoom have come together to offer an educational opportunity for kids\, adults\, and families to experience and learn more about turtles and tortoises. \nAt this 90 minute event\, participants will have the chance to see rare turtles and tortoises and learn more about their conservation and survival. As partners\, we are elevating minds within beautiful landscapes. \ntheTurtleRoom works to learn more about turtles and tortoises\, both in the wild and in captivity\, through research and observation; teaches others about the importance of turtles and tortoises and their unique characteristics; and implements conservation action in the wild and through captive assurance colonies. \nKevin Minto lives in the Northeast with his wife\, two daughters\, and their bale of turtles and tortoises. He is a video production coordinator for TheTurtleRoom. SUMMARY:Wilton's 4th Annual Duck Race to Benefit Trout Unlimited and Norwalk River Conservation NEW DATE!
DESCRIPTION:Look what’s back again! Traditionally hosted by Point Break Tacos\, which closed doors last year\, the 4th annual Duck Race returns\, with the torch to oversee it being passed to Trout Unlimited. \nTrout Unlimited is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of freshwater streams\, rivers\, and associated upland habitats for trout\, salmon\, other aquatic species\, and bringing communities together for this mission. \nThe duck race will take place on Sunday\, May 25 at 10 a.m.\, starting at Schenck’s Island in Wilton Town Center. While the ducks will be racing down the river for about 20 minutes\, participants and guests can explore downtown Wilton for local shopping and eateries as well as learn a few fly-fishing tricks from Trout Unlimited. \nThe participant whose duck crosses the finish line first will win a Sweet Summer prize and the infamous “Big Duck.”  Racing ducks are limited to 150 (one per registrant) and residents and guests are encouraged to register as soon as possible. The cost to enter is $25 per race duck\, with 100% of the proceeds supporting Trout Unlimited’s conservation mission. \nVisit the event website for additional details and registration instructions.
