SUMMARY:State of the Town Talk
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Wilton\, The Wilton Library Association\, and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce invite the community to the first “State of the Town Talk” held Wednesday May 29\, 5:30 p.m. in the Brubeck Room at the Wilton Library. First Selectman Toni Boucher and Wilton Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin Smith will guest speak. \nThis forum is open to all community members. It especially offers an opportunity to come together\, share insights\, and collaboratively address the Town’s Annual Budget and Town Meeting’s recent outcomes. The event also serves as a platform to discuss the progress and future direction of ongoing projects shaping the fabric of the community. \nThe goal of this meeting is to provide an open dialogue\, allowing community members to voice their ideas\, concerns\, and suggestions. This interactive approach further allows for the consideration of a diverse range of perspectives in the decision-making process. It will indeed harness the collective intelligence\, creativity\, and spirit of the community to foster an environment of growth and well-being for all its members. \nOrganizers hope to see you there\, ready to engage\, listen\, and contribute to the dialogue that impacts the town. This is an importantly unique opportunity to connect with neighbors\, meet town officials\, and play an active role in the decision-making process that affects everyone. \nSpace is limited and registration is required. SUMMARY:Wilton Youth Council Presents The Athlete Mindset: Supporting the Wellness of Student Athletes
DESCRIPTION:Student athletes today are growing up in an increasingly high-pressure sports culture\, where the drive to excel can sometimes outpace their physical and emotional readiness. This workshop explores the unique mental and emotional challenges young athletes face and offers practical\, evidence-based strategies to foster resilience\, balance\, and confidence- both on and off the field. Join Yale Child Study Center psychiatrist and former professional European basketball player\, Dr. Ayotunde Ayobello to: \n\nUnderstand the pressures\, stressors\, and emotional experiences of student-athletes\nLearn to identify when stress\, anxiety\, or perfectionism may be negatively impacting student-athletes\nDiscover practical ways to help student-athletes develop coping skills\, confidence\, and a growth mindset\nLearn how to encourage student-athletes to explore interests beyond sports and develop a well-rounded sense of self\n\nAyobello is an Assistant Professor of Child Psychiatry and provides outpatient psychiatric care at the Yale Child Study Center in Westport\, Connecticut. As a former elite athlete\, a power forward and center for the Crimea State Basketball Team from 2008 to 2014\, Ayobello brings first hand understanding of the psychological demands of competitive sports. His experience informs his work in fostering resilience and integrating mental health strategies into athletic performance.
