SUMMARY:Call for Children Grades 2-8 to Sing in Holiday Concert with Music on the Hill
DESCRIPTION:Wilton’s Music on the Hill is excited to announce a Holiday Session of the Community Children’s Chorus for grades 2-8. All who like to sing are welcome; no auditions required. We invite and encourage children from across the region to participate: here’s a unique chance to meet and sing with other children from different geographic and school backgrounds\, and to learn about rhythm\, melody\, pitch and tone together\, culminating with a formative and fun performance alongside professional and seasoned choristers. A terrific experience for everyone. \nThe Community Children’s Chorus meets on Tuesdays 4:15-5:30 p.m.\, Nov. 12\, 19\, and Dec. 3 and 10\, and will be part of the “Sounds of the Season” concert on Friday\, Dec. 13. It meets at Music on the Hill’s space at WEPCO (48 New Canaan Rd.). \nRegister online. Registration is free\, although donations are welcome. SUMMARY:Music on the Hill:  Sounds of the Season
DESCRIPTION:Join Music on the Hill for their gorgeous holiday concert\, “Sounds of the Season.” Featured this year will be the Jubilate Ringers\, the Festival Chorus\, and our new Community Children’s Chorus. David H. Connell and Ellen Dickinson conduct. Our program of festive music includes choral works by contemporary Scandinavian composers Kim André Arnesen and Morten Lauridsen\, as well as “The Heavens Delight” by New Canaan composer Gwyneth Walker. Other selections include gorgeous seasonal pieces such as “Cantate Domino” (Hassler)\, “Jesus Christ the Apple Tree” (Poston)\, “What Sweeter Music Can We Bring?” (Berger) and the French traditional carol “Masters in This Hall.” \nThe bell ringers will perform a hauntingly beautiful arrangement of the plainchant melody Divinium mysterium (“Of the Father’s Love Begotten”)\, and will accompany both children’s and adult choruses for more familiar carols\, including a medley arranged by Dickinson. \nWe will all sing favorite carols with the majestic St. Matthew’s organ as accompaniment. SUMMARY:A Gathering of Celtic at the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:Please join Wilton Library for a holiday concert as Jeff Snow returns to the Brubeck Room for “A Gathering of Celtic at the Holidays.” This program is a mix of The Softer Side of Celtic along with familiar and perhaps not so familiar holiday songs and tunes. Many of you have heard Snow play Celtic music on the Autoharp… and the music of the holidays on the ‘harp is magical. \nGrowing up in a home where the older Scottish folk songs were the everyday sounds\, Snow developed a love for Celtic music. Snow’s music has been described as “quiet and relaxing Celtic.” Much of it is but every once in a while he breaks out and the foot stomping begins. Sharing stories\, songs and tunes enriched by the histories of Scotland\, Ireland and England\, his performances educate as well as entertain. You will see clapping\, singing\, laughing\, lots of smiles and perhaps a few tears. Suitable for all ages. \nRegistration is recommended. Register on the Wilton Library website or call 203.762.6334.
