DESCRIPTION:July brings Myung Gyun You to the Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence Program at the Wilton Library. After immigrating to the United States from South Korea several years ago\, Myung has traveled constantly from place to place around the country\, noticing the evidence of deep geological history amidst the wide range of natural habitats. He has been collecting soils from each place he travels to and incorporates these soils into his work\, expressing the evolutionary history of the planet as part of his man-made pieces. SUMMARY:The Cookbook Connection: A Virtual Recipe Swap
DESCRIPTION:This is an old-school recipe swap with a twist of virtual. Attendees can test out new recipes or dig up old favorites\, then create something yummy to virtually “show and tell” with the group – appetizer\, salad\, entree or dessert\, or just join the chat. Participants can grab a drink\, share their family recipes or which cookbooks they used for their recipes and how they got their inspiration. The group will meet twice a month with a different focus each time. The first meeting will celebrate Cinco de Mayo\, so participants should make a Mexican dish. DESCRIPTION:Certified Platinum KonMari Consultant Christine Thorn offers an informative and entertaining presentation at Wilton Library about the lifestyle benefits of the KonMari Method of tidying and decluttering. In her slideshow\, Thorn begins by discussing being inspired by Marie Kondo’s best-selling book\, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up\, and then studying with Kondo’s team in New York City to earn her certification as a consultant. In addition to detailing the life-changing benefits of KonMari’s category-by-category system of tidying\, Thorn explains how it focuses on keeping only those items which bring joy to your life\, rather than on what needs to be eliminated\, and discusses the importance of the fundamental KonMari question: Does this spark joy? She also details the KonMari Method’s six steps and how the process works\, as well as showing examples of transformations achieved in clients’ homes\, and demonstrating proper KonMari folding techniques.
