SUMMARY:Strengthen Growing Brains: How to Empower ALL Types of Learners for Success in School and Life
DESCRIPTION:SPED*NET\, in partnership with Wilton Public Schools and Newtown Sped PTA\, presents this webinar. \nSharon Saline\, PsyD\, will teach parents concrete strategies to meet neurodivergent learners where they are and help them strengthen essential executive functioning skills. With current research on the developing brain and real-life case examples\, she shows attendees how and why executive functioning skills are critical to the learning process for all children and teens\, especially for kids with ADHD\, learning disabilities\, level one autism and twice-exceptionality. Dr. Saline also discusses tools for improving motivation\, overcoming conflicts\, building collaborations\, and managing common anxiety. \nParticipants will leave this presentation with practical\, tangible strategies for identifying and nurturing cognitive strengths in children\, reducing daily family conflicts and fostering essential self-confidence. \nRegistration is required and available here.

DESCRIPTION:Being the parent of a child with special needs is often a confusing\, frustrating and deflating experience. The different experiences each parent has with their children can contribute to quite different perspectives on how best to guide them. \nIt’s a struggle to parent from the same page when we sometimes question if we’re even in the same book. School psychologist David P. Sylvestro\, MA\, CSP\, will discuss how parents can work to better sync their parenting philosophies and policies to be on the same page. Topics include enhancing parents’ knowledge base related to their child’s overall profile\, practicing the language of effective conflict resolution and expanding their affective vocabulary — the language of emotions. \nThis free event is an in-person presentation.
