The Wilton Historical Society is the place to be–come enjoy the ever-popular Great Trains Holiday Show! \nAfter the familiar Thanksgiving rituals of parades\, turkey and football\, keep the family fun going\, and enjoy the beginning of the holiday season. Take the children in your life to an entrancing afternoon with trains and live entertainment. Dressed for the holidays\, the Wilton Historical Society’s historic 18th and 19th century buildings are transformed into a train-lovers delight with many different model train layouts winding through tiny towns with a variety of different kinds of buildings\, tunnels and even a working gondola! The display enchants visitors of all ages with lots of buttons to push and knowledgeable “train engineers” on hand to “talk trains”. \nNew this year–a spectacular model winter village upstairs in the Toy Loft\, which is filled with the favorite toys of yesteryear. In a special train room for the youngest guests\, Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio trains are ready for hands-on fun. \nThe Great Trains Holiday Show is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, and Sundays\, 12-4 p.m.\, beginning Friday\, Nov. 29\, 2019 through Monday\, January 20\, 2020. \nAdmission is free for members of the Society; $5 per non-member child and $10 for non-member adults.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Holiday Stroll will be held on Friday\, Dec. 6\, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Wilton Center Town Green. The Wilton Chamber of Commerce\, Wilton Kiwanis\, and the Town of Wilton have planned a variety of events to celebrate the holidays and the arrival of winter. Residents are invited to bring family and friends to Wilton Center to welcome in the season! \nAmong the events scheduled for the evening: \n\nChildren of all ages can participate in holiday crafts and activities on the Town Green\, featuring free cookie painting (nut free) with The Painted Cookie and potato latkes sponsored by GOOD Morning Wilton. Enjoy festive music provided by the Wilton High School band and local holiday carolers.\nTree lighting on the Town Green at 5:30 p.m. following the Wilton Fire Department’s escort of Santa on the Engine 5 ladder truck. Santa will visit with children at the gazebo on the Town Green\, where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat from Santa.\nMarshmallow Roast at Schenck’s Island from 5:30-8 p.m. sponsored by Wilton Kiwanis. Enjoy hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows by the warmth of the campfire.\nFrom 5:30-7:30 p.m.\, Wilton Library will be welcoming visitors with refreshments by the warmth of the fireplace. Take an ‘ornament’ from the Giving Tree to help the library with its wish list\, give Hanukkah Gelt to the Children’s Library for its collection\, peruse the Holiday Book Sale and the art exhibition for holiday gift giving\, and vote for your favorite entry for the “How Sweet it is in Wilton” Gingerbread House Contest. DESCRIPTION:The annual Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll is this Friday Dec. 1. All residents are invited to join the festivities beginning at 5 p.m.\, hosted by the chamber together with event sponsors Fairfield County Bank and Meadow Ridge and in partnership with the Town of Wilton\, Wilton Fire Department\, Wilton Volunteers Ambulance Corps\, Wilton Kiwanis Club and several retailers and businesses in the Town Center\, \nGet in the holiday spirit as by warming up by a roaring bonfire and partake in the marshmallow roast and hot cocoa provided by the Wilton Kiwanis Club at Schenck’s Island. Head to the Town Green to be enchanted by the strolling carolers and dance performance from Wilton’s Conservatory of Dance. Families can enjoy crafts and treats provided by local non-profit organizations\, and new this year\, Justin Baiad Photography will be creating a magical winter experience with digital photo packages at the Holiday Stroll. Get a portrait with Buddy the Elf as he joins in the fun. In the tradition of giving back for the holiday season\, all proceeds from the photo session will benefit Trackside Teen Center. \nIn addition to the festivities at the Town Green and Schenck’s Island\, from 5:30-7 p.m.\, Wilton Library staff will welcome visitors outside their front entrance handing out special gift bags with sweet treats\, while supplies last. Children can stop by the Children’s Library to make a special bookmark to take home with their books. Visitors are invited to shop for gifts and stocking stuffers at the Holiday Book Sale in the gallery. \nAt 5:45 p.m. the community will officially kick off the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa at the Town Green\, ushered in by the Wilton Fire Department’s Ladder Truck 5. Children of all ages will be able to visit Santa at the gazebo where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat starting at 6 p.m. \nCelebrate the magic of the holidays and join in the festivities with Wilton retailers\, restaurants\, and local businesses. Chamber officials encourage the community to stroll through town\, visit\, shop and enjoy the generous hospitality of participating local businesses that evening. A special rickshaw ride through Wilton Center will be provided by College Bound Rickshaw for the enjoyment of attendees. \nChamber Executive Director Camille Carriero encouraged residents to enjoy the tradition at the stroll\, for their fun as well as to support local businesses. \n“The Chamber would like to give special thanks to our event sponsors\, Fairfield County Bank and Meadow Ridge\, along with the merchants and businesses who host such festive and welcoming receptions at their stores.
