SUMMARY:Food Truck Festival–Trackside Teen Center Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Wilton will feed its collective belly\, as Trackside Teen Center will feed its financial need\, all with the 2nd Annual Wilton Food Truck Festival\, scheduled for Saturday\, Aug. 17. The community event has quickly become one of the organizations largest fundraisers\, something organizers say is especially needed to help with center’s financial challenges and a severe budget deficit. \nUp to 20 food trucks will return to Miller-Driscoll School on Aug. 17 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; in addition to a wide variety of meals on wheels\, the event will feature local musicians\, kid friendly entertainment and over a dozen vendors to delight and entertain attendees throughout the day. \nEntry is $10 per car. \nTrackside Teen Center\, as a private non-profit\, is the uniquely valuable place for Wilton teens. The center provides free drop-in hours after school and runs a number of programs ranging from arts to improv\, gaming to self-esteem development for pre- teens and teens in grades 6–12. As a safe place that is not home\, and not school\, organization official call Trackside the ‘in-between’–where pre-teens and teens can come to socialize\, explore new interests\, meet new friends and most importantly just be themselves in a supervised environment.

DESCRIPTION:In Partnership with LiveGirl\, Trackside Teen Center is once again offering the eight-week Confidence Club for girls in grades 6-8. \nTrackside is excited to once again partner with LiveGirl to offer our middle school girls one of our most successful programs. Confidence Club provides girls in Grades 6-8 with a positive adult role model and creates a safe space for girls to develop self-esteem and social/emotional intelligence. \nConfidence Club is a facilitated discussion group that is customized for each group of girls to create a brave space for them to build skills and explore topics that are meaningful in their lives. \nMeeting as a small group with a professional mentor on a weekly basis\, the curriculum-based program builds social-emotional intelligence and self-esteem\, the building blocks of a confident leader. Amid the pandemic\, connection and confidence are more important than ever. Our Confidence Clubs allow girls to foster connections and develop social-emotional intelligence and resiliency. We have also added a racial justice unit to our Confidence Clubs this fall. \nAs each program is customized to the girls participating\, we’ve found that many also benefit by participating more than once during their middle school years. \nRegistration is required and opens Sept. 26 for Trackside’s Basic Members (contact us for membership support).
